First snow
Snow tires make more than a world of difference. Today we got hit hard (well, the past while we have been getting hit, but the mornings are always rough) 25-35 mph on most of the non-freeway roads, including ones where traffic normally goes about 50-60. It was very slippery and some of the snow was getting packed into ice before the salt could start helping melt the ice.
Point of this story: in a two-door sports coupe, albeit with AWD, and with snow tires, I was passing many an angry SUV etc owner (safely, mind you, I'm not like the idiots that go "Oh, I can go 90 now because I have AWD and snow tires). Seriously, you should've seen their faces. I even "raced" an STi and beat him
Note: I say raced because we were stopped at a light, we both went and tried accelerating at the same speed at the same time, neither of us did or intended on going over the speed limit, nor was it "street racing" anymore than going at the same time at a normal light with someone who also happens to intend to accelerate as fast as you. Let me know if I haven't been clear enough here. Point is: My AWD with snow tires locked up a lot faster than his all-seasons and I pulled away from him at the light, while his tires spun a bit.
The first day we got hit hard (Saturday) I had an older SUV following me (Like a RAV4 or something) super close. I was getting pissed because I am terrified of idiot drivers in bad weather. Sure enough, after awhile we come to a left turn, I turn just fine, he turns and spins around behind me what looked like at least 2 full circles. Guarenteed he had simple cheap all-seasons on, that were probably pretty bald and he probably thought his AWD 4X4 made it so he could push the gas hard. Wrong. Oh well, he was fine after spinning, no accidents happened from it.
Anyway, winter is fun, yay! Be safe y'all.

Only had about 2 inches of snow today. I had a good time though. I only got to drive on it at the start of the snow fall and then afterwards. I liked how I didn't have to worry "oh man...this stop sign is on a hill" with this car
I was at a huge incline with unplowed snow and the sucker just went right though it and didn't lose grip, which surprised me. I just went normal acceleration (lower speed though) and had no trouble. Fast turn still blow though... I pride myself on being a well snow driver but I see my skills going to crap in this car, lol. People who've never driving on it don't understand how acc might be ok, stopping is iffy, and turns are horrible. Also never use brake when you're losing control. Just slightly let off gas and use wheel to turn.

My friend had me drive because her Accord sucked so bad in the snow (with all-seasons).No one said you have to drive like an idiot because you have an AWD car...

So you'll choose to drive your wife's FWD Accord instead of the Evo? How many of those did I see up on the curb the past week...

Had it out in the snow today and had some fun. There's a HUGE parking lot for the park next to where I work... No parking blocks or anything. Looked like 2-3 acres of white, flat, fun.
