EVO VIII The Last of the Samurai Lineup
EVO VIII The Last of the Samurai Lineup
I was reading a Web article stating that the EVO VIII will be the last of the evo line up ... any takes on this.... IMO if this is true it would be awesome for us EVO VIII owners because of retention value... Well in any case for you who want to read this article here is the link ..

US does go a different route, maybe that's what they ment, but i am discouraged by that, i am pretty sure the car we have right now, will be the closest Evo to JDM that we will get!
I have read several rumors that the Mitsu Lancer/Dodge Neon line will share the same platform and that Dodge is replacing the SRT-4 for '05 or '06 with an all wheel drive turbo Neon based on the EVO. Maybe we will see the EVO go away completely in America, replaced in the Daimler-Chrysler lineup by a Neon!! :-(
That's always possible.
Afterall, the new Mazda 3 (no more Protege) and the new Ford Focus will be based on the same model because of Mazda and Ford's collaboration.
Somewhat akin to the Vibe and Matrix but I don't know if they will share everything under the skin just like those two cars do.

yeah bring lawsuits against mitsu for bad trannies, clutches etc... soon they will not even consider the US market too. I posted some post against some people complaining about almost every little thing, wanting to sue mitsu for this and for that yadda yadda.
If we want these cars to keep coming, we should respect mitsu for building us such a great car and at least let them be profitable on their US evo release. Also people just need to understand the fact that problems exist in all ULTRA high performance cars.

Understand also, these things could easily change. With DiamlerChrysler's "SMART" line of cars, you could very well see some platform sharing there, after all, Chrysler is pretty much a german owned company now.
Fear not, though, sharing a platform doesn't necessarily mean the cars will be exact. Look at the PT Cruiser and the Neon, they are both built on the same basic platform, but two totally different vehicles. Same with the Dodge Stratus Coupe and Mitsubishi Eclipse (these cars (previously Avenger on the Dodge side of things) have shared platforms for over 7 years now).
Anyone else notice the Audi interior shot of the article? This is obviously an opinion piece, and how can you respect someone's opinion that works for a company that doesn't know the difference between an audi interior and a mitsubishi interior?
Amazing, this topic is brought back to life again. We had a nearly identical thread in here about 2 or 3 weeks ago. This is all old news, and only rumors fueled by internet car forums.....
Been there, done that.

Yeah, it seems that people all too easily forget that even beyond sharing platforms and some technologies, some of Mitsubishi's most prolific vehicles were exactly like their Dodge counterparts underneath:
Mitsubishi Eclipse = Plymouth Laser = Eagle Talon
Mitsubishi 3000GT = Dodge Stealth
