an awd srt-4 would be BEAST. not that i'm saying i wouldn't miss the evo, just that dodge cars are becoming more solid, and i'm hoping whatever the combination neon/lancer is, that'll it'll look like and be as sweet as the talon/eclipse was. they both came in turbo/awd, and those are STILL awesome tuners cars.

/not afraid of change

Dodge Neon

Chrysler and Mitsubishi jointly will create the next-generation Neon, due for the 2004 model year. Mitsubishi will take the engineering lead, while Chrysler will handle styling.

The next-generation Neon sedan will be based off the platform created for the 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer, the replacement for the Mirage. The Lancer went on sale this year.

The 2004 Neon likely will use Mitsubishi engines and transmissions.

I posted some post against some people complaining about almost every little thing, wanting to sue mitsu for this and for that yadda yadda.

You're a hero for a problematic car. Go you.

If we want these cars to keep coming, we should respect mitsu for building us such a great car and at least let them be profitable on their US evo release.

Are you retarded?

So people should put up with serious issues with a car just to ensure they keep bringing the same problematic car into the US market, as opposed to taking whatever means necessary to get Mitsu to admit the issues, address the issues, and fix them? Interesting perspective you have there.

Also people just need to understand the fact that problems exist in all ULTRA high performance cars.

You're ridiculous. First of all the Evo is a performance car, not an "ULTRA high performance car" whatever the hell that's supposed to mean. Second, people don't spend $30k and up to get a car with a ****ed up clutch/pressure plate, rust, ****ty paint, and other BASIC ****ING PROBLEMS that have nothing to do with the level of performance of the vehicle. Hell, people don't buy ANY new car to put up with that ****.

Get your head out of your *** before you post again.

here's really the ONLY thing i hate about this possibility...

having to have BOTH metric and damn US measured tools to do work on your car. my first ride, a 91 dodge dynasty, had the joy of being a mitsu/dodge love-child.

maybe i'll just go invest in one of those gator-gripper universal socket wrench.

The US Evo may go a different route, maybe with the introduction of the Colt Evo in the WRC they will market that one more in the eastern market, leaving the 4 door sedan for the US? just a possibility.

Mitsu has stated that redeveloping the Colt for WRC is too costly and they will stick with the lancer.

Does this mean the '04 SRT will have a 4g63. Oh the humanity.

BTW, what is Mitsu testing on WRC, the lancer or colt? 1 year to test something means more like going to a diff car/platform.

The '04 Neon is available now, and doesn't look to be a Mitsubishi under the hood. Maybe they meant an '05 Neon released during 2004.

I think they mean the 05 platform.. Every indication is that everything is status quo for 04..

But I did hear the same rumors for some time.. But Chrysler/Mitsubishi has been sharing platforms for much longer than you guys think.. There was the the DSM's that we all know, but your forgetting about the Dodge Colt / Mitsubishi Colt, and the Mistu Starion, Dodge Conquest.. And quite a few other cars that I can't think of at the moment.

Personally I Own a neon, and Its a great little car, underpowered when I first got it, but it ran good.. Now its a decent street burner running 14.4 quarters on a normally aspirated SOHC motor..

I'd love to see an AWD Neon SRT-4.. and the rumors about the neon/lancer platform being shared are true, but how similar the bodywork is depends on alot of things.

Personally I'm glad to hear about alot of these changes.. Also the renenewed RWD revolution thats starting to show up in new american cars..
