I am in the market in buying a Evo and i am still a little fuzzy on the model. I looked at so many evos this past week that I got lost in the model and 90% of them dont have badges on the car.

Its a 2005 so I know its a 8 but, what model(i.e. RS ,GSR ,MR) ?

It has
sunroof
black leather interior
no mivec- only evo 9's right
custom subwoofer in the trunk

Bare with me guys I am searching a lot but the searches iI gotten so far are confusing as hell. For example the RS model comes with the SSL, Then I found a thread where some guys were saying that the RS model doesnt have a sunroof, but the FAQ on the newbie section says that the SSL model has a sunroof? WTF

 

It's a GSR w/SSL

 

Yeah RS wouldn't have SSL.....definately not a sunroof. It's a 5speed, you can tell by the center console.

Sunroof gives it away. 05 GSR SSL was the only model that had the sunroof iirc.

 

That looks like the factory sub in the trunk. The GRS with the SSL package is sun, sound, and leather.

As for the car it looks like the front bumper is bent above the FMIC you might want to check for additional damage in that area.

 

GSR w/ SSL = GSR w/ sound (sub-woofer), sunroof, leather interior (including door panel)

RS w/ sunroof = RS w/ aftermarket sunroof since RS doesn't come with SSL from the factory.

Now 62k miles is ok for these cars. Most of them I have seen have between 44k-68k miles. For example , are the transfer case or tranny go out around these miles, how long does the oem clutch usually last? And is there any electrical gremlins known at 50k miles avg.

ON a rx7 yeah you will see a couple with 150k miles but we probably crebuilt the motor like 3 times..lol

 

with that amount of miles don't buy it unless either a the 60k serice has been done or they give you money off for the car needing it, then get it done asap

 

speaking of evo 8's has anyone ever seen a evo 8 mr fq-340

its got 345 hp and 320 tq

im just curious if anyone has seen one in the states,cuz its a rare model

 

transfercase's life completely depends on your right foot and how hard you like to use it. No electrical gremlins that I know of. The clutches usually don't last long if it's modded at all. Mine lasted about 22k miles. Now I have an Exedy Twin Disc HD for some extra insurance.

 

Ya def an 05 GSR with SSL. The RS is the stripped down lightweight version which is why there is no option for a sunroof. The MR has a few other goodies like a 6-speed tranny bilstein struts etc. No sunroof on that model because it has an aluminum roof. As for that car in the link it has SSL which stand for sun sound leather. Sun obv meaning sunroof, sound meaning a 7 speaker amplified sound system, and leather pretty self explanitory. FYI that sub in the trunk is not custom but rather the one that comes with the package. I hope they have a shift know for you tomorrow is case you want to test drive it. Good luck with the car hunt! Thanks guys for the fast responses. I figuere I will talk to the guys to bring it down some more. 16k isnt bad at all w/ 62k miles. If i can get it for around $15.4 out the door with ttt. That would be great because I will get a diffrent bumper and a quart of AS paint and still be under their selling price.

I do my own bodywork and paint, I was tortured when I was a kid by my uncle at his shop, SAND THIS GRIND THAT PAINT THOSE!

hopefully all the damage is just that front bend on the bumper and the lip. The wheels look familiar like DC-5's. Those will go bye bye quick If my Work EQUIPS look good on it i will use them for a while.

 

ah ****ty,could be worse, we never had any evos in canada til the x,and 9's and under just became legal here a few months ago,which is bull**** cuz i paid 30g's for a lancer gts when i coulda got a evo 8 or 9 for that price now
