Actually, it depends on what city and state you live in and for a first time driver, car insurance is definitely high. Your best bet is to have the car under your parents name and pay them how much their premium will be. That way as time goes by, when you get older and more experience driver, then you can have your own car insurance for cheap.

Anyone in the Iowa, Ill, Wis or Mn area should check these guys for insurance rates:

http://www.tricornet.com/

My wife works there and she has been able to get better prices for all my friends with high performace FDs, DSMs and other imports.

I was paying 577 every 6 months but since I was involved in an accident that cost 5K in repairs it jumped to 677 every 6 months. State Farm can kiss my ***. They raised my homeowners insurance too.

I bought my WRX last year and Allstate quoted me something around $2000 a year. I'm 27 and have had no no tickets or accidents. I went to Erie Insurance (they are mostly East Coast) and last year I paid $550 PER YEAR full coverage because they had the car as in intermediate sports car. This year it changed to a high performance sports car but I still only pay $750 a year. It might also help that I only drive 5000 miles a year.

as the old man in the group (34), I pay $1800 for all 6 of my cars.

2003 MDX
2003 Cobra (has a 3 month layup in the winter)
2003 Evo
2001 Jeep Wrangler (recently sold)
1993 Civic with GSR Engine
1974 Porsche 914 w/ Chevy 350 - appraised at $10k.

all of that = 1800 per year full coverage..$1k deductible.

I live in a small town and have zero accidents or tickets.

I paid $184 a month for a 2000 civic si and a 1997 honda crv in the dc area. Sold the civic and bought an evo. With the evo and the crv insurance went up to $213 a month. By the way, I'm 24 with a clean record and turn 25 in 3 months so hopefully that **** will go down!
