Would you still want it?
I'm sure that you guys have read about my EVO recently being stolen. I have to ask you something, and give me your honest opinion about this. and feel free to tell me if i'm just being a selfesh *****.
First off, a little background. I am 23 years old and about a year out of college. I bought this car on may 27th of 2003. IT IS THE FIRST NEW CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED. I work my *** off about 55 hours a week in order to be able to afford this car. it is my baby in every way. The car has not been abused or tainted in at all. It is what i am most proud of and the most important material posession i have.
my question to you guys is, if your car was stolen from a dealership that was conpletely based on their neglegence, totally their fault, and the car came back all ****ed up, would you take the car back "fixed" knowing that someone abused the **** out of the car and ripped the interior apart and stripped a bunch of stuff out of the engine bay?
because i have had so much time to think about this, latley i'm saying to myself, "i dont' even want the car any more, i want a new one. One that hasn't been stolen and abused by some ***** with no respect for others property" because you damn well know, no one was gentle with the car while it was being stolen and stripped.
let me know what you guys think, how would you feel? react?
or am i just being a ***** about the whole thing.
one thing to keep in mind though, it was stolen from a reputable dealership, not from a 7-11 parking lot. If that was the case, i'd just take what i can get.
your thoughts?

It's tough here, for me learning how unimportant material possesions are in life and what is most important and what to be proud of may be of the most use here.
I'm sorry to hear about your car, but learning to appreciate the car, instead of being proud of it, that migt help take some sting off. If the cars frame and engine weren't messed with I wouldnt' worry about the car too much. Get the vehicle repaired, and enjoy it, and be thankful you weren't involved in a violent taking of the vehicle from you, resulting in any injury or death.
I know it isn't the most pleasant experience, been through it, but in my case police investigated me as the thief and it drug out insurance issues for months. But don't let it get under your skin too much, life is too short. When you get the car back, take it to the track and enjoy it and it will make it feel all better..

All emotions aside, I think the first thing you might want to do is to see if you can find out what's reasonable to expect in your situation. It's a really tough question, however, as everyone who can give you a knowledgeable answer may also be affected by the choice you make. The dealership obviously wouldn't want to give you a new car. Your insurance company doesn't want to pay for a new car. And a private attorney would be getting paid to help you pursue the suit.
I wish had had some real information for you, but this is all I can offer.

Honestly Id say keep the thing. No sense in getting a new one to tell you the truth. If anything goes wrong, you can blame the dealer for whatever reason! i.e. bad clutch issue and etc. You can always go back in time and blame the dealer if it weren't for their negligence.

Rez90,
just get a new one if you can because you don't know what the person did to your car that you can't see. You will always be worried about it in the back of you mind.

Get a new one, tell him you want a new one and all the parts that you had to replace to get it, and the $$$$ to get them installed. You will onlt get this or go to court, while waiting to go to court, you will be there every day to let everyone know what happened to you, with a picket sign and pics.
They better help you out here, scream in fronr of customers, make a scean, this is their business, and they will lose a lot of it until they make it right.

i don't see a point in getting a new one cause if it would seem like it would be too much trouble, but if you could, i would definetely get a new one, but it would be ver difficult to get the dealer to get you a new car. i would say, since the dealership is at fault for the damage, make them pay for an inspection by a mechanic you trust, and if they don't then get an attorney to write them a letter. Don't ever trust one of the technicians at that dealer ever again. I also think they should pay for everything that was stolen from your evo, after all it was in the dealerships possesion. And remember as stated before be happy your were still able to make this thread, who knows how far that turd would have gone to get a couple of used mods out of a car.
BTW, did security cameras catch anything?

hell how can u go wrong with a new one ? Same car no miles.Sweet deal to me, besides what do u pay insurance for...To let thiefs drive YOUR car ? If its an option roll with the new one.Keep working I feel u bro Im only 24 myself.
Rez90,
Is your insurance declared a total loss on your car? If not, keep it. Since you loved your car so much, this give you more reason to keep it. If there is any problem with your car after the incident, it should cover under warranty.
In additional, you will lose more money if you trade your car in for a brand new one. You work hard for the money. Don't waste it.

It's very simple. You bought (are buying) and paid for a NEW car, they want you to take a USED car. There should be no question on what to do.
The only way you should even consider the stolen one, is if they offer some additional compensation. Such as a 50k clutch warranty (hehe) or some other free options, services, or extended warranties (LONG, FAR, and FREE!).
This is not a moral question at all, it's business, get what you paid for bud, or go elsewhere. With all due respect to you and the other posters, you guys are likely young and idealistic and this is a ploy by the dealership to get you to do something that is clearly in their favor by playing on your emotions. Don't fall for it!

I know you must feel violated or something to know some clown was in your **** tearing it up.. And to know that this is the 5th car stolen from the dealer and they do nothing to prevent it? No camera's? No secured fencing? That is called negligence (spell)... That right there would be a beautiful case for a civil attorney..
If they offered to get you a new car, then do it! But if they just fix and replace everything that was molested in the car, make damn sure you bring it back to them for EVERY LITTLE tiny noise, shudder, rattle, hesitation, etc... ANYTHING!!! But I would definately seek legal advice on any punitive damages that could be awarded for your losses...
