rust under my rear fender? (snapshot)

i took the evo to the dealer and had the mitsubishi rep take a look. few hours later they sent me an email saying:

"Our district rep looked over the Evolution and has determined that there is not perforation from rust and is not the responsibility of Mitsubishi Motors. "

this is stupid... they know its going to get worse. so should i take actions now or wait till it makes a hole and get it fixed under warranty?

That is clearly rust. Fight the decision. I had rust like that on mine, ended up with a whole new rear quarter panel, repaint, work - all covered. We have 100k rust warranty.

I have a IX purchased brand new, a year after ownership noticed bubbles on my quarter panel around where your problem is.....

Mistu warrantied it - few months later its back. Dealership is taking care of it but they don't know if mitsu will pay or not and they are saying a new quarter panel needs installed do be done right since it returned after re-painting....

but regardless they are taking care of my car - sucks to hear and see.....I think this is a common issue many will start to find, amazing you didn't catch this until it looked that bad?

I spotted mine when it was tiny little bubbles on the panel.....

How were you able to fight back? Did you go back to the dealer or did you contact their boss?

Basically you need to prove that the under body (white body) of the fender is rusting (which of course should be easy), and take it back.
The body is rusting, Mits has a 10yr corrosion warranty for a reason, and this is one of those reasons.

Be polite, be firm, be persistant.

I have rust also, not on the body though but on the wheels. It is starting to form on 3 of the stock VIII wheels by the center cap. I took it in and still haven't heard from them about whether they are going to fix it or not.

OH my bad i was referring to the front in that case i would take it to a body shop and get it replaced and repainted if i had to i would not waste to much time on the dealer they are always trying to void the warranty for something chaotichoax

that looks repainted/refinished! it is a good thing they warrantied that. there is a clause in the 10 year/unlimited rust warranty that if the car was in some body damage they will not warranty that certain area.
