Does evo 9 se hid headlights plug & play on evo 9 gsr non-hid car?

DOES EVO 9 SE HID HEADLIGHTS (with harness & ballast) PLUG & PLAY ON EVO 9 GSR NON-HID CAR? I would like to know if i can just swap headlights without wiring modification. Will I be able to just swap headlights and be on my way? Do they both have the same 1 plug and play power source? thanks !

no. the non-hid equipped cars need a whole new harness to fit the OE hid kit. It is NOT plug and play.

my friend just told me its not plug and play. You are better off just buying a hid kit.

like not worth it. You need to add relays to your fuse box because HID headlights also have foglights.

Honestly, getting an aftermarket HID kit is the easier...and i believe better solution. As long as you have the proper kit (which i can't remember which bulb style it is) it will be plug and play.

what if i get a 9006kit with d2s bulb fitting? that should work. but then im not sure if the non-hid headlights would plug and play on the power source? can anyone answer that question if they both have the same 1 blk power source that just clicks in?

the plug from the engine harness that plugs into the headlight harness is DIFFERENT from an OEM HID equipped car and an OEM NON HID equipped car.

The way to do this is to use the harness from the NON HID heads on the factory HID heads. But then you end up with a 9006 connector on the headlight. SO then you need to remove the factory ballasts and install aftermarket ones with a harness made to adapt to a 9006 car. Then you need an un modified D2S bulb to install into the HID ready headlights (SE heads).

What you need to order is a 9006 HID kit with NON rebased bulbs. Rebased bulbs are D2s or D2r bulbs that have the flanges modified to fit into H1, H3, H4, H7, 9004, 9005, 9006, etc... headlights. Since your using a headlight from an OEM HID equipped car, it already accepts D2S bulbs. But the harness on your NON HID equipped car is still setup for 9006. So you need to go from 9006 to the HID ballast. Thats why you need to order a kit.

Your cheapest bet would be to just buy aftermarket hid's. You can buy a complete 9006 HID Kit with bulbs and ballasts on eBay for under $100 with a 2 year warranty. I personally would go that route. I have had great luck with these kits on many of my cars. Hope this helps.
