Thumbs up WORKS Brainflash works

Decided to go ahead and try the 91 octane Brain flash. I couldn't hold out for the boost flash any longer.

Everything is as advertised. Pulls pulls and keeps pulling compared to stock. No 4wd dyno near me but don't need one to feel there is a big difference above 5k. Great job WORKS! Very pleased. Money well spent IMO. I can only imagine how happy I will be when boost flash is out. Standing in line waiting.

WORKS has great customer service! Sent ecu out last Monday, it arrived at WORKS on Tuesday and back to me Wednesday. No problems no issues, just the way I like it.

I wanted to wait and drive it for a week before posting my impressions. All good so far. No negatives.

Before Brainflash I was adding 3-4 gallons of 100 octane ($4 a gallon) with each fillup of 91. Now I'm getting much more felt power with strait 91 octane. Saving me $. In the long run Brainflash may pay for itself while having more fun driving.

Best totally stealth mod imo.

Mojo, glad your happy with the reflash. I was just wondering, did you have to pay for shipping to and back. And how much did it cost for shipping.

Thanks,
Thai

Did you feel a difference below 4-5k? Do you get any extra power when mixing some 93-94 with that 91 map?

How much was the reflash cost? It seems this could be a simple, good upgrade to a car that is used as reliable daily transportaiton that just wants a little extra kick. The stock Evo does seem pretty unexciting over 5500. Did you consider other units?

Funny how no one that buys the Works flash has anything but good to say about it, yet so many bash the idea of getting it in the first place. Love my 93 flash BTW

Why is that funny? Of course the type of customer that will buy it will definitely like it! The people that are not interested in it are people that want to be able to manipulate settings themselves. The only problems with the WORKS unit is (1) Settings currently not tunable by the end user and (2) The map has to be a tiny bit conservative for safety, because not all cars are equal.

Its a great product for what it is, but not for everyone. Better?

I am 100% satisfied with the re-flash... I love the way the car pulls now... I am not one to tune the car myself, and I am very pleased with the conservative amount of added power.

Has anyone purchased a second ECU for the purpose of getting it flashed by Works and keeping the stock ECU....stock?

Is this method better? I’ll start asking the losers in the other lane for feedback!

Many customers buy products, and end up dissatisfied... and we all know how quickly a vendor with good products can turn into a vendor to avoid on this board.

I think Zeus' comments are spot-on in re-enforcing the fact that with all of the Works re-flash customers out there, we have yet to see anyone using the product, providing anything but good feedback.

I do agree with you on both items 1&2....for the most part.

First I would say, I don't think either of these things mentioned are necessarily problems, but like you concluded... a great product doesn't necessarily fit everyones needs.

Those that like to constantly tinker with settings, and make continual adjustments to try and squeeze the most power they can out of the latest mod, may find the re-flash limiting. Once the new boost control re-flash is released however, I think more people than ever will see it as a great solution, and a great mod path option for providing solid consistent power, and drivability gains.

In the end we are just fortunate there are so many great options!

Mojo, glad your happy with the Brain Flash. If you really want to be impressed add the Aperture and Exhale. At 6500 rpm I have a 50 whp difference and I use it as a daily driver. What a BLAST!!!!!

...not to mention that is a better platform for adding piggy back computers to vs. OE... for those who are interested in such... I believe it was the hated Al who added the flash to the Emanage for his HKS 3037s kit in the beginning... I could give a rat’s *** who the flash came from; it's good stuff... by no means a miracle product, but a good, solid, component. I’m sure myself and others would be interested in anything negative an owner of the reflash had to say.
