$15K is allot to get very little in improvement.

I second that! Overpriced man! Sorry to tell ya but I'm puttin' down more power for less than $2500 worth of mods. do that math.... eh that's like $12K less.

Sorry to tell you.... but HKS did not do a good job if its main objective was to make more power (as they mag tries to dictate). Now as somebody else already mentioned, improved durability (only running 17psi, etc) and handling should have been the focal point.... opposed to 1/4 speed, drag times, etc. Basically, HKS just swapped and upgraded parts so that people could see that it's possible do the same to their evo..... and then they can have an HKS evo too, right? Sorry Chris but it's just marketing... hell, if HKS really wanted to make power, it would at least installed a bigger turbo (3037T or 3240T) and its cams (264 or 272).

 

$15k and all they got was 280 true hp. you've got to be kidding me! Vishnu Tuning got 300+ true hp just by the xede and an exhaust for only $1200-$1600. It should be the shieet, if you drop that much loot into it! Anyone agree!?

 

If anything this is bad PR for HKS.

 

I think thats labor too in that $15,000 plus you know how mags lie alittle so we can all talk about it just like this...

 

that is such a freakin rip off.... i have way more power and run faster with on $2800 in go fast parts inclucind install and tuning and dyno....

 

BTW.. im not all bout the 1/4 mile... i use it as a basis in my tuning method... after i get a desired time and speed i will work on my suspension and braking than off to the curvy roads and real tracks i go

 

Most people equate expensive and spending lots of money to quality, so for most people 95%+ of the readers, they'll think of this as incredible! People like spending money more than most people want to admit.

For those who are faster, bring it out to a road course and compare it, or maybe you'll need to spend $15,000 on instruction and seat time to better appreciate what it costs to go fast - not in a straight line.

 

I agree. I believe the only reason HKS let a magazine review their Evo was to show people that modifications are available and can be done (and can be purchased from HKS, of course). If HKS really wanted to flex their muscle, they would've gone all out. All they did was just external engine modifications. They didn't even modify their internals (cams, rods, pistons, etc.) Mind you that HKS has a drag Skyline that runs in the 6s, so I don't think people should be judging something (the Evo) that is still a work in progress. I don't think any of us here on these forums could ever compete against HKS if it actually came down to who's Evo is better.

 

it doesnt take 15k racing schools range from 3-6k
so im looking at less than half the price...

 

maybe you learn something going more than once... some poeople it may require more than one attendance.

Either way, HK$ modifications are not a remarkable deal for just going quicker in the 1/4 mile, and fortunately there are alternatives, some designed solely for making the Evo perform only quicker in the 1/4 mile with persons solely focused on that. But HK$ modifications do a good job of showing that every aspect of the car can be improved with their products.

I'm not a HK$ fan, they are pricey, but they do a good job of marketing and there results are very good and most all their products are very durable. Though some peopel figure if it breaks off, it's less weight running while doing the melt clutch then shifty shifty run.
