Also I saw company that ships skyline in parts somewhere and it was around 80k to ship it over here(but you have to put it together)
Only problem Is,That is still not legal.
It is still sneaking it in past radar

I'm bringing my Evo 5 to the States. I'm still learning everything there is to shipping a JDM car to the US though. It can be done without tearing it apart, it just costs some cheese. Around $15k.

I'm interested in bringing one back also. Maybe you can PM with how your going to get it done and the process you'll be going through. The V and VI's are my favorite Evo's, and I hope it work outs for you. So how much longer do you have in Okinawa??

If you're in military talk to jppso. I'm going to korea and going to see if I can bring skyline back to u.s. Maybe ship engine on jppso crates and ship over frame/body with your money. Going to see if I can bring jdm parts using jppso.

It is not that easy, Jdm cars do not have a vin plate to even swap.

It is nothing like a us car as far as number/vin system is concerned.

Plus it is still very illegal and then becomes a felony if you get caught.

I helped a friend of mine bring 2 rhd cars to Portland, the guy paid cash, signed the bill of sale etc, the sale was legal, but he was never planning to register the cars to be driven on the street. They were both turned into track cars only.

That's illegal, and you still told him wrong. The point of swapping VIN plates is that people put a USDM vin on a JDM car and then claim its that USDM car. They never mention anything about it being imported.

I knew a friend who would buy and legally register Eurospec cars in Nebraska. He apparantely bought them from Canada and drove/shipped them down there. He had quite a collection last I saw him. Hartge E30 M3, ALfa Romeo, Euro spec 944 porsche. He recently purchased an R34 that had plates and registration in Nebraska. I dont know how they pulled that one off either. I do know that Nebraska has some really relaxed laws-- no smog. Maybe register somehow in that state. My friend did it.

TommiM, if your wondering about the R34, just google "Motorex" they were a company that imported skylines and other JDM vehicles and tried to make them compliant, by adding door bars and other safety devices to help them pass front and side impact tests. Well long story short, they released a tonne of them without getting them inspected, most were grandfathered, and some were crushed. That's the story behind the R34 he has, check autotrader.com I'm sure you will find a few for sale.

This is for the guys that are just saying put a Mirage VIN on it. DO NOT DO THAT. I have friends that are in PRISON for said FELONY. Let's just say you import a car over here like a Nissan, Honda or Toyota. You then put a US VIN (salvage) on it of the same model or something similar. You might get away with it for awhile. You will likely get caught at some point and get investigated, asked to produce the cars, get prosecuted and CONVICTED. You can also try to legally get one shipped over. I hope you have a lot of money to buy several cars for crash tests and fitting of emissions. Just my .02 and I warned you all.
