evo 7 question
If you're serious about doing this, it's possible to do legally but it can be VERY expensive.
I contacted companies and was prepared to import an Evo before but the holdup was with the safety and emissions. In order to meet the US standards, you're going to end up paying anywhere between 5-10k. Of course, you can always apply for an emissions exemption, but that's not likely either.
In the end, you're going to pay more for a 7 than you'd pay for an 8 or 9 so you'll really have to want that 7 to do all of this (legally).

The safety requirements to make it street drivable are going to be the biggest pain. I was trying to get an r34 to my friends in Vancouver, then was gonna drive it back to PA, figuring i had my 14days before it had to be inspected, to make it back home
(i don't even know if that's a real law anymore) but the biggest hassle was having it meet safety and emissions standards in the US.
There are now companies that (for another nice chunk of change) will ship things like early evo's and skylines and rx7 in parts. Then re-assemble it here under a modifed/hot rod registration. which limits how often you can drive it and such, but i think that gets you around the emissions and safety laws.
Or, get it and drive it illegally, but i didn't suggest that, no way, no how.
