Well I have an 03 Evo, factory hids. Well all of a sudden one of my hids went from the normal blueish color to straight Purple last night. Does this mean the bulb needs to be replaced soon? Its extremely purple, a day earlier... it was normal.

Interesting. I don't know how often the bulbs go out. My headlights are still going strong and I have an 03' as well. Maybe the ballast. If you REALLY want to know, you can remove them and swap that bulb into the other headlight, but that is a lot of work.

 

I figured out today that my driver's side ballast went bad. The car only has about 9,200 miles on it. Thanks mitsu It is a lot of work to remove the headlight assy's and swap the bulbs to test them, but I think that's the only way to know for sure.

 

9200 miles on an 03?? That's freaking nuts!!

 

That is crazy low miles! Not quite as low as Buschur's project white though!

To the OP, anytime I've ever had aftermarket HIDs go purple they died within the next few weeks or so. It is usually the ballast but I would definitely plug the one showing purple into the other ballast to see what happens.

 

Yea most likely its ur bulb on its way out. You can always swap bulbs and if it still does it, then its bulbs!

 

hey i have an 03 aswell and mine is starting to turn white i swapped the bulbs around and it did the same thing on the other ballast so its the bulb ordering a new set of d2s bulbs soon
