I changed mine at 2700. Genuine oil filter and mobil 1 synthetic oil was just what my Evo needs.

I think the part number changed. The OEM filter was a different number from the one I just bought at the dealer. They said that's common for the part number to be different from the original. I threw out the box, so I don't know the new part number. It's on the car already.

I just followed the user manual that stated 5K, mind you that was within the first month of owning it.

mitsubishi adds break-in additives to the oil. don't change it before 3500 or your seals and rings want seat properly. people who changed their oil early are complaining about oil consumption now.

I had my first oil change at 1300 after breaking in period.
Im running M 1 which is recommended , but im going to buy it on my own then have the dealer charge me for it . I know that Mobul 1 goes for around between $4-5 . While the dealer charge me $ 9.00 a quart . Unless they are using a synthetic that was made specially for Mitsu by Mobil 1 i don't see why so much...
Any thoughts on this , besides the fact that they are charging a bit to much for mobil 1 Synthetic.

NINE Dollars/qt?? Its just another dealership scam to make more money off people. There is nothing special about the oil they are using, its the same stuff you can buy at Walmart for less than 4 bucks/qt.

There are not special "break-in" additives in the oil from the factory either.
