Question How many miles before you change your EVO's Oil. What brand do you use?

I would like to know how often do you change your oil. What brand you used. Also how many miles before your first Oil change. I am at 1600 miles and would like to know when is a good time to change the Oil. I am not trying about getting the most oil for my money. If changing the oil early helps thats fine with me.

btw theres a picture of my EVO at my webpage http://www.CarPhoto.net
If anyone else would like to post there car with a profile including drive, and car stats email me at webmaster@CarPhoto.net

I changed mine @ 700 miles, then again at 2500 miles. I will be doing 2500 mile intervals from now on. M1 10W30 full syn is what I used, but will be switching to 5W30 for the winter months here at 5000 miles (about a 1.5 months or so).

1000 only because I installed the sports meter which includes an oil temp guage which requires draining the oil to replace the drain plug with the sensor. But my oil was black at 1000. I'm at 1500 now and the oil seems much cleaner on the dipstick. BTW, i used Mobil 1 as recommended. Do it yourself and save money and a trip to the dealer. Walmart sells 5 quart containers of Mobil 1 for like $19.

I changed mine at 600 miles, right after breakin, cuz it was overfilled from factory, so I drained some out, and on the way out it was so hot, that I just let the whole thing drain, hehe.

I changed my oil at 80 miles

then again at 1800 miles (and tranny fluid too)

I sujest changing out your tranny fluid to GM Syncromesh @ 1500 miles or so, and clean off your magnetic plug ( it will need it TRUST me)

my tranny fluid had a copery sheen to it (syncro's breaking in) and a metal chunk or two (doh, dont grind those gears!)

at 80 miles i switched to pure petro based oil to break in my seals and then at 1800 i switched to moble1 synth

I sujest changing your oil before the 1st 100 miles is over, and your trany fluid before the 1st 2000

maybe one more oil change before 2k (with the tranny fluild) then get into the normal 3k oil changes

the decel noise is somewhat common, if it concerns you have the dealership look at it (if its extream)

changing your tranny fluid shouldnt change that too much though i do think that it shifts a lil smother with gm syncromesh (prolly just in my head tho)

I did the drivetrain change (minus the rear diff) with Redline MT-90 and Redline 75W90. That tranny plug was COVERED in metal bits, good lord. Even the center diff had some bits on it, not nearly as much though (more like metal sludge).

Definitely recommend a tranny fluid change, I am going to do one more this weekend, then 7500 mile intervals (every 3 oil changes) thereafter.

Myoilshop.com sells it for mad cheap, use the dealer code to get 10% off (google for the dealer code, can't recall offhand).
