So I was just looking at the different years of the Evo's (US only) and was trying to figure out which generation and package is the best in your opinion, or simply by the cold hard facts. It seems like they made the new ones a little heavier and slower based on the stock 1/4 mile times, but do they have more potential? Also, the new MR is heavier than the 5-speed evo, but wouldn't you expect the Mitsubishi Racing EVO to be the faster of the 2? Also, why weren't they made in '07? Lay down some facts for us. Also, correct me if I have the models wrong, or if I'm missing any. Thanks

 

It all depends on what you're going to do with the car.

 

I hear ya. that's why is basically an opinion based question, but some may argue that an RS model is the lightest so it has more potential, or the evoX has more potential based on the newer/upgraded factory parts, etc... I just want to hear what people think about each one.

 

They were made in 07, but sold as 2006.5's... That was the SE package, then there was the über rare MR SE which has everything from the MR package, with the interior, front lip, and wheels, from the SE package which I currently own... IMHO that was the best package Because from the dealer it was already an aggressive look, suspension, and performance, while being a rarer form of the Evo, and that's why I searched 5 months for mine... You also left out the SSL (sun sound leather GSR package) but being that I'm getting ready to build my car for street/drag I regret the 6 speed, so if I could go back I would get the SE, thus why I voted SE

 

All of your questions have been discussed, at length, many times. You'll also get different results depending on which section of the forum you post it in, because people are very biased towards what they have.
