So is it the government that stands between those who bought the car, or is it E.I.? Because I was under the understanding that people could get their cars once E.I. let them go. I mean if the government has no issues because they are declared for off-road use, then shouldnt those who bought a VII be able to at least go get their purchase?
By the way, thanks for all the answers, just a curious individual I guess....

It's my understanding that those who want to use their Evo VII's strictly for offroad use (i.e. trailer them between events), should have no problem with the fact that EI hasn't been able to legally convert any of the Evo VII's to street use. In fact, they shouldn't have used EI in the first place, as there are many cheaper alternatives for this type of importation. But EI has always claimed "fully street legal" importations, and that is (and always will be) the problem.
I'm curious. Besides not being a DOT Registered Importer, I also suspect that Evolution Imports is not a US Customs-certified Customs Broker at any port in the US. For those who have their EI paperwork, who was your Customs Broker?

wow, that's a lot of info. I don't know what I am going to do when i get back to the states. I can't bring my evo III and i dunno if I want to get an VIII. Maybe the IX will be out when I get back in 05. Don't know if I can degrade to a different car. I love my evo, heh

And if anyone wanted to contest their purchase in any way, they had to do it within 12 months of purchase date.
I'm assuming that this statute of limitations has run out for most peoples purchase, correct?

Senor Info seems to have some free time.
Great information. I hope like hell no one actually sent them $ for those Type R Civics!!!!
They (EI) did spend some $ to advertise in the Dupont Registry, almost making them seem legit. That probably cost $5k for a full page ad..... guess that was just the "bait".
Nice job Senor!!!!
