Evolution Imports [Super Mega Merge]
Whether or not EI is fraudulent is really not the point.
Regardless of the above, I think it is really just caveat emptor when dealing with EI. While some buyers have received their cars, others have been waiting and may never receive their cars.
Yeah, maybe EI's not fraudulent, but don't advertise something you can't deliver - and in this case, street legal Evo's.

However, "Info's" implication that EI is fraudulent is absurd, especially since the evo 7 petition has never been denied. Anyone with half a brain knows it's going to take time to legalize a vehicle not intended for the U.S, especially with our government, who apparently has nothing better to do than restrict BETTER cars from coming here.
INFO, leave it alone. Only the freaks on this board give a crap about what you say. Afraid to identify yourself for fear of being sued for slander, huh??

NHTSA has already determined that the Evo VII is not substantially similar to any vehicle sold in the US. The Evo VII manufacturer, through its legal consel, has informed NHTSA of several areas where the Evo VII's compliance with FMVSS is in doubt and suggested the only way to confirm compliance was through "testing," which will never happen. The Evo VII petition is deader than a doorknob and there's no way, short of bribery, that NHTSA will approve it.
Evolution Imports has never delivered a "street-legal" Evo VII to anybody. They never will. The Evo VII's now in the country were falsely declared to be incapable of safe use on streets on the Customs declarations. That is how Evolution Imports avoided posting the EPA bond (1.5 times value) and the DOT bond (1.5 times value) which are required when importing a street vehicle to insure that it is ultimately made compliant with emissions and FMVSS regulations.

I would have to think Senor is pretty helpfull.... some dumb****s are too stupid to see it though.
They will have to crash test the Evo VII's to get the legalized (like motorex did).... That is the only way.... and that assumes it passes or could be made to pass fairly easily..... it would make a great paper weight though.

Their cars have been here for over 2 years now, and Im wondering if they had to ship them out of the country or if they can somehow keep them here. Im not quite sure what the exact importation laws are in Canada (except the 15 year old thing), so maybe there is a way to import evo's legally into canada and keep them here? Or maybe theres a loophole to get evo's in legally to drive on the streets in canada? The EVO's weren't on trailers when they pulled up to the spectator stage in the city, and they drive between stages, so I dunno...
Both of these cars are for rally racing purposes though, so it isn't proabably a good soruce to use for possible importation of street legal evos...
I've seen pictures of a Skyline R33 GT-R in Ontario with Ontario plates, and normally you can't even get a skyline past customs since its not 15 years old. Also, there is a '91 Skyline GTS-T in your city, i have seen pics of it at your local track, but im pretty sure that was imported illegaly.
Anyone have any insight on importing EVO's into canada?
EDIT: The Other EVO IV that was at the rally here (Andrew Comrie Picard's car) had New York Plates on it, so nevermind that, but im pretty sure the EVO VI owned by Frank and Dan Sprongl is Registered in Ontario, and theres also a Green EVO V that is registered in Quebec that competes in rallies there...

They are imported for competition racing so they can't legally be driven on the streets so whenever they are on urban streets or highways, they are transported by truck.
All of the points made are legit from what I can see. If they have nothing to hide and are a legit company then why do they base the business out of Nevis?? Why would you set your business up in another country other than to avoid being sued or held accountable for any transactions. I dont think anyone has disproved the documents senor info offered and until they do the documents stand. I would like to see what EI has to say. Could their customers have a rep(maybe the director, sec, president) make a stament and let us know whats going on. And has anyone actually received a Evo from these guys street legal or not??
My Experience w/ Evolution Imports
I know that my post #'s are low, but here is my $.02.
My experience with Evolution Imports....
My friend Brian and I have been on a quest, if you will, to find a car suitable for just about everything. In our search Brian stumbled across EI's website. Immediately he emailed the link to me and after reading through the website I was sold. Both of us called Adam for the first time in late August of 2003.
The first impression that we both got from Adam was that he was a “nice guy”. He seemed to be trustworthy, and since he was from our hometown, Louisville, KY, it made things even better. Adam told us that we were the first people to contact him from Louisville, and found it to be funny that we both called him on the same day and that we both were named Brian.
Anyways as we continued to talk to him separately over the next few months and we began to notice something fishy was going on. Each time that we talked to him it seemed that he would give us a different answer. The first thing to pull my attention was the fact that every time I asked the wheel hp rating he would tell me something different. He told me that they had everything from 245 whp to 340 whp, and this was supposed to be stock. After this I sent him an email basically reaming him about being a fraud. His response was that I jut misunderstood him. I thought well maybe this is a possibility that between my friend and I that we got something mixed up.
Even after we had worked out a deal with him on price($27,300) and had been working with him for about 3 months on this, the both of us still had reserves about buying a car unseen and undriven. Adam assured all of our fears by bringing an EVO VII to Louisville to let us test drive. It was a 2002 Black RSII with 5000 miles on it, this was licensed out of Michigan by the way. He simply handed the two of us the keys and said have fun. Let me tell you that this car was FAST, and it took corners like it was on rails! However, after we were done with the test drive we asked him several questions about the car, and even a few that I had already asked. Once again the answers varied from what he had previously said.
Brian and I continued on the quest to own an EVO VII by looking into insurance and even applying for loans. We went through the credit union in Colorado that Adam told us to use. He said that he had used them several times before and we should have no problem getting a loan with them. Well once Brian went to sign the papers, the loan officer at the credit union says, “I feel that I should warn you about EI.” She told him that they currently had 3 people with loans for EI and it had been a year and they still had not received their cars. She also told of one more loan where a guy had bought an EVO from Adam to only have it arrive with a blown engine. Needless to say after hearing this we consulted Adam about it. He proceeded to say that he had never done business with that credit union before, and he does not know what she is talking about. “Well, well, well isn’t that a convenient out, except you recommended that we go there to get our loan since you do so much business with them,” is what I said to him. He could not respond to that for there was no way that he could cover himself on this.
My experience with EI left a bad taste in my mouth. In our haste to get the car we failed to research the company that was selling them. All that we did was research the car. If I could give advice to anyone I would say to be **Extremely Cautious**. We were lucky for nothing was lost but time and dreams.

Umm...because the Evo VII is just so much sexier than the VIII?
EI has a long history of screwing people up the a$$. You're not the first person to issue this warning on these very boards.
I can understand the disappointment this has caused. We all know what it's like to want something so badly all you can do is think about it, dream about and talk about it. Then come the people like EI who make a living destroying others' dreams.
If you still want an Evo, check out the 8. It's not as pretty as the 7, but it'll still provide most of the fun.

Yeah, I've been following their site, and these posts here since before the Evo8 came to the US (I originally considered a 7)
What I want to know is why does their banner ad still come up occasionally? They recently revised their site, so their still trying to attact customers.. in fact you can supposedly buy a "Non legalized" car "not for highway use" which is probably the only way they can sell the cars they have.
The funny part is, if you did the importation yourself, you would have an easier time getting the car registered, however registered doesnt mean "DOT Legal" which means if you tried to resell it, there could be issues.
Which is what I suspect happened with them.. They brought their cars into the US expecting to register them and put 5000 or so miles on them so they can be considered used.. and had hoped that transferring the title would be enough to get it registered.
Anyway.. Do a search, this is a really old topic, but there were some really good posts on what was going on, the issues, and why its not happening..
