CF Doors?
if your DDing the car avoid cf doors. Besides cf on a black car is good looking but not as good as it could be in another color. I have the whole top half of my 350z cf(hood, roof, trunk, apillers, spoiler) its killer looking but im not even going to joke around like it was cheap. I did all the work and installs YES that includes removing and replacing the back glass. if i were to get hit in the front or back a car is coming though. i did not get cf doors because its a dd and if i were to get Tbone well its all over for me. the evo crash rating are way worse than the Z you almost put yourself and seal the coffin if you get cf doors and get Tboned i would avoid this unless its a track only car.
CF is stronger and often lighter depending on the layup method. That said, CF is DANGEROUS for use in doors. It has been rpoven over and over in crash tests that CF doors EXPLODE and send thousands of tiny daggers of razor sharp CF into the drivers body at impact in a 30 to 90 degree impact. Custom bracing bracing won't stop this from happening.
CF doors and t-bone impacts = one fu---d up driver.
CF doors and t-bone impacts = one fu---d up driver.
Side impact beams have to meet Gov regs, it's not cartoon science. If you go CF it'll be a waste. Your rear doors are steel, not aluminum, also if you go CF and then rollcage, you negate the airbags and other safety features functions. All the folks who go half and half on their cars like that are at jeopardy. Either it's for the track/strip or it's for street (stock safety)
