Are you throwing any codes? Check Evap solenoid and purge valve for sure.

Have you worked on the car recently? If so, what did you do?

I haad this same problem back when i had my STi. It did the same thing you describe when i first bought it and it turned out that the previous owner had gotten one of the fuel lines reversed when he was turning it back to stock (how this happened im not sure) and that was causing the gas tank to become pressurized. it was a easy fix but it took awhile to figure it out. So i would check your fuel lines, maybe injectors too, but i definitly think it could be a problem with your fueling somewhere.

How far did you drive the car with the gas light on? The fuel pump could've possibly burned up... Little to no fuel in the tank won't cool off the pump, which leads to bad things

Its probably not related to the fuel you put in and has something to do with the build.

Weird....my car would hesitate and sometimes stall after I filled it up. Then after about 60-80 miles or so it would clear up and drive fine until I had to fill up again. It doesn't do it anymore thank God. How long has your car been doing this? I fill up at the same Cheveron station normally and have never had problems with the quality of their gas until the one time I filled up after a severe thunderstorm. Water from the storm somehow got into the stations holding tanks underground and of course ruined the gas.
