Is this normal? When I turn the venting (for defogging windows) on, and its set to cold (not max a/c), cold air blows out of the vents. There's also the air condition hissing noise i hear when i turn it on. Normal? Solution?

 

My wife's IS300 does that. On 80 degree days its perfect AC without the condenser sapping power (Shes a spirited driver.

 

I believe when you turn on the defogger it automatically turns on the AC to get rid of the condensation on the windows. Normal ops.

 

All cars now when you turn on the front defogger actually turns the a/c compressor on. a/c breaks up moister or humid condition in the car that is the partial cause of the fogging condition.
