Hi guys,
I'm going to be doing some road racing with my evo 8 at a local track at night. I wanted to switch the factory HID's to the 3000k yellow HID's. My car is a 2005 with the SSL Package. I wanted to know, where could I find these and is it even possible with the stock HID setup to just swap the bulb and harness? Thanks for your help.

If you're going to do this, do it right and get D2S bulbs.
The higher the kelvin rating, (8k mentioned above), lower level, less intense light is output, which travels a shorter distance versus lower kelvin levels such as 3000k, are closer to the rating put out compared to the sun, brighter more intense light, travels farther...ill see if i can find the chart

i run yellows (3500K) in both low and high beams...illegal yes, improves visibilty yes...then again the car that has it on doesn't go out much so not much trouble with the cops.
i want some yellow hids for my fogs
i would check out www.ddmtuning.com they have amazing prices, customer service, and warranty for their HID stuff.
Putting yellow cellophane in your housings will only cause other wavelengths of light to not show through, which will reduce the overall effectiveness of your lights by quite a bit. This is why colored HID bulbs indicate a crappy product. Good HID bulbs are clear, the color temperature is produced by the gas inside them.

As far as the best light, the OEMs stick to 4300K or so because its the closest to natural sunlight so that's the sweet spot.
