hmm, recommending an AWD vehicle to hide from the snow, come on guys. Get the undercoating, and mudflaps like recommended. Go to the car washes often and just get the UP pressure washer to get rid of the salt. Use sealants like KLASSE to protect the paint. And snow tires for some safety...and fun!

 

Park the EVO and get a used AWD car like a older 2.5 WRX or legacy.

Hiding the car you bought , NOT for its AWD prowess in bad weather but for the performance qualities it posesses isn't crazy. Its prudent. I hate driving my car in the rain.

 

hmm.. ill new indeeed!!! I am thinking about welding up an entire underpanel to cover the entire thing. Undercoating suxx when u go to work on your car and u have a thick coat of crap to fight with, but not undercoating is bad too. I sold my bronco on 33's to move out here. Stupid. I am going to have to buy another one up here, but trucks are expensive up here!!! They are high demand so the prices are high. Oh well I always wanted a good 4wd with lockers. Maybe Ill get my self a rubicon or a regular wrangler. mudflaps would be cool though.
God I hate that they salt the roads here. Its stupid and unneccesary. oh well. Thanks guys.

I still might give the underpanel a shot. Maybe. There is a company that manufactures plastics down the road. Maybe a big plastic panel would work.

 

oh and i love having fun in the snow lol. Parking it sounds reasonable yet at the same time breaks my heart. Maybe I will just suck it up. grr i dunno.

 

I drove my Evo in a few MI winters with A/S tires. Works fine. Even in the UP. Now, if I lived in the UP. I'd get snows.

 

Come on. It's not a Ferrari. Do all of the above and just drive the damn thing.

 

Seriously. New cars have better corrosion protection than older ones.

Just wash it every time the temperature gets above freezing, mud flaps, and undercoating.

Why the hell would you buy an Evo and not want to drive it in the snow. I've owned a car in Chicago for 12 years and I've never had an issue with salt damage or rust. Just go get a touchless wash every weekend and make sure you wax it once before the season and once in the middle of the season. Mudflaps and undercoat products help too but I've never used them or needed them. 99 percent of the reason I decided on an Evo was for the snow, I can't wait for the winter.

Option 1: move (what I'm considering)
Option 2: keep the car waxed and wash it regularly (once a week) at a place that also has the underbody sprayers (what I've been doing)

Driving through fresh powder is seriously the 1 fun thing I do during the winter.

Aftermarket undercoating is a joke and a waste IMO.
