Hows the theft rate on an EVO?
Hows the theft rate on an EVO?
I'm not that familiar with the engine in the evo, but does it fit directly into the older generation eclipses and such? I know that one of the main reasons why integras and civics are stolen so much is because their parts are interchangeable. Is that the same with the EVO?
The Evo engine and the eclipse engines are both 4G63's. They just have little differences, like different internals, different heads, different placement of stuff....
The engine sits in the two cars opposite of each other. DSM's had the cam gears on the driver's side while the Evo has the cam gears on the passenger's side.
The Evo 4G63 is a 7 bold motor, and the late 1992 and up DSM 4G63's were also 7 bolt motors. 1990-early 1992 were 6 bolt motors.
No, you can't put an Evo head on a DSM short block.
No, a DSM tranny will not work on a Evo motor.
Why would you want to do this when you could just do a 6 bolt motor swap into a 2G DSM and build it to 500WHP for the price of an Evo motor alone? I don't think that people are going to be stealing Evo's for the motor. Even if you could directly transplant the Evo motor into a DSM, it would not be cost effective.
Another thing, if you steal an Evo for the motor to swap it into a DSM, be sure to only use Mobil 1 full synthetic motor oil. Otherwise, you will void your warranty.

I'm just curious if any Evos have been nabbed without the use of the owners key... the one story I have heard. It's been stated that the Evo immobilizer is a real *****... which makes me very happy
