I am curious as to what Mitsubishi's reasoning for this gadget was. To keep us EVO owners from kidnapping? The person printed on the lever is clearly fleeing the trunk.

yes its required by law, and i think that handle has to remain visible for a certain amount of time after only a minor exposure to light.
