power steering pump

Ok it seems like my pump is going out, was making noise for the last 3 months and now i'm finding it harder to turn the wheel. So my question is where is a good place to purchase a new power steering pump or a place that sells refurb units (i got quoted on the oem pump and was shocked on the price so im looking for alternative places to purchase) also if there is an after market replacement that is better what would that be. thanks.

www.mitsubishiparts.net

Put this in search:

P/s pump, lancer, w/turbo

It's $641.62 + $76.99 shipping = $718.61

Here's a 10% off coupon code: cfMyv3Rk

You have an 06 so your still under warranty, but maybe not with the mods you have listed.

Maybe give it a shot of taking it in and see if they will replace it.

For more info/help contact RussellM (owner of Mitsubishiparts.net)

Did yours do this?

it would make more noise when turning at low speeds like say pulling up into my driveway. almost all the noise is at lower rpm's. We took a stethoscope to it and verified the noise coming from the p/s pump. that was about 3 months ago and since then it has started getting louder and now im starting to notice it getting harder to turn the wheel (the levels are fine btw).

Is there any other options like rebuilt or aftermarket, 700 is just to much for me at this point in time.

I'd say your only option is to buy used. I'm not aware of any aftermarket power steering pumps.

Check the part out threads on the forums.

I also found this, ridic cheap under $70 and free shipping but it comes with a 30 day money back gaurantee and 6 month warranty (you may want to read up on the conditions)

My goodness don't pay $800 for it. There are numerous PS pumps for sale on the forum right now around $70 bucks.

My bad, here's the right one on the same site:

There's also a couple on eBay.

Best bet would be browse through the FS forums and part out threads.
