Terribly annoying beep!!

When I first brought my evo home from Vegas to Colorado at the last like 10 miles of the trip it started beeping like my seat belt was unbuckled when I have been sitting in the seat for 4 hours motionless and was buckled the whole time. It stopped for about 2 months and a couple days ago it just started up again but hasent stopped. It's very very annoying considering I am actually buckled. Since the only local mitsu dealer closed I have to make a 45 minute journey to Denver to get servicing and I have limited time this week but it almost makes the car undriveable because of the relentless beeping.

Take a look ander your seat at the electrical harness on the buckle. Maybee it has a loose wire. Welcome to the Springs. Joinour local forum http://www.coloradoevo.com/.

Yea I ended up disconnecting the connector because I don't need a reminder either.

How many people actually need reminding?! If you're old enough to own an Evo, you're old enough to remember to buckle your seat belt

Does the SRS light come on if you unbuckle this harness?

I haven't run into any issues in the 24 hours I've had it unplugged.

Sorry to revive an old thread but after driving for a few weeks with the plug unhooked under the seat which fixed the constant beeping from the seat belt warning it started up again. The seat belt harness was still unplugged yet for no apparent reason it started beeping again. I tried plugging it back in and what not but it still constantly beeps saying my seat belt is off.

There have been a few other guys with a similiar problem. What it could also be is the " engines off but the key is in the ignition" beep. Do you have a turbo timer installed? you may have broke some wires under the steering column causing the beep

I myself have not done anything but the previous owner had an aftermarket alarm and I believe a turbo timer too. I know the previous guy messed up the power doors to the point I had to get the ecu replaced cause he saudered something onto the ecu. He also did really weird stuff like take out the dome and reverse lightbulbs so I don't know what else he could have done.

Most likely he spliced a wire or two down there and you have a short into the key alarm, or the seatbelt harness... Hard to say, hopefully nothing too serious...
