LED Taillights
^I don't think you do, unless you had someone that had installed LEDs and didn't pull them when you got your JDM rears. They can look rather LED-ish, but that is all a trick of the refraction mirroring.
Below is a picture of my LEDs from Curt (I think I got the ones that were one notch down from the top of the line; top of the line required modifcation to the housing). BTW - I think he is still on here as dafarmer, but I don't think he sells LEDs anymore.

those are exactly how mine look minus the rectangle shape in the big tail light, mine are circular shaped.... i think my lights came from evo dave im not sure.. the car came with them when i bought it.
The rectangular shape? Are you talking the light on the right? You mean the rows of rectangular lines? Those are actually rows of LEDs that are refracted/reflected to look the way they do. It sounds like you lucked out, though! Take a pic - I'd love to see them! It is possible that you have true LED tails with no refraction/reflection but just straight LEDs installed like the NAMS set. Similar to the style of M35 tails.
I'll have to get new pics of the rears with incandescents installed as they are so nasty looking next to these. The picture above is also the OEM tails. I have JDMs coming in next week and I'll retake pictures then.

The one on the right is definitely incandescent and I'm 99% sure the one on the left is too. Mitsu made the reflector pattern to make the lights look like LED.
The real giveaway is the vertical line in the center of the light on the right. That is the tungsten filament glowing. A good way to see for sure is have someone turn the lights off and you will see that veritcal line glow for a split second as it cools. With the LEDs, it is instantaneous off. Thanks for taking the pic!

im pretty sure they arent the same as my friends jdm tails, but i need to check again. the one on the left looks like led to me, but the one on the right no way. what would led do if you videoed it differently? cause i tried to video it and it was having trouble picking it up like my hids.
When you look at that one on the left up close and at an angle you can see past the reflector that blocks viewing it directly. At that point you could see if it is incandescent or not. Or just pull it out of the assembly!
They are easy to take out.
I'm not sure what you mean by video. Hids and LEDs should show up on video, but I'm not sure what you're using to record I suppose. I'll get updated pics next week when my JDM tails arrive.

Yeah, improvements in lighting technology such as LEDs and HIDs suck! If they ever think of putting LEDs in headlight applications I'm going to have to shoot someone!

i like the audi ones: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8o_GVkehO4
We had this kind of controversy on the 350z forums. Some company called Cin City Customs would do this type of work for obscene amounts of cash. I guess they were busted for using low quality material.
They're still in business though. Guess everyone wants LED and R8 headlights and tails.
