The purpose was to help dissipate heat from the intercooler leading to cooler charged air. I'm not sure about other countries, but 2004 was the final year for this in the US. I believe the STI's used it at least through 2007 but I am unsure about the newer ones.

 

didnt test show these were ineffective,thats why mitsu did away with it??

 

^^only did away with it in the us models jdm models still had it

 

For the new STI they removed it

 

i bypassed my bypass valve so i can fill it all the way up.. it works for me,

I have it but don't even use it. Does it really make that big of a difference?

 

I never used it. Mines still in there, but I removed the intercooler sprayer switch and replace it with a toogle switch for something else.
