Hows your Evo running?

For the past few weeks I been getting in my evo and just wished I was driving something else, I love my evo to death and plan on keeping her forever but the car has been running like sh**. Bad turbo (very slow spool), boost leaks, leaking radiator, leaking radiator hose... I drove around frustrated because I could not punch the gas and fly off anymore; these problems kept me up at night. After a week of working on her I got the evo running perfect again, new turbo, new radiator, fixed the boost leaks, new hose. It feels so good having my car running like this again, How is your Evo running?

Mines running freaking phenomenal. Thanks for asking.

Sorry to hear about your problems, but glad to hear you got them all fixed up. I know it gets stressful at times when it's being a high-maintenence POS. Just remember how much worse it is without it. I think I take for granted sometimes how badass of a car it really is. I try to really appreciate it, it's one of the greatest cars ever made.

Ditto. I don't think my Evo ever ran better than it does now. Its drivability is sensational, it spools in a heartbeat, and there's usable power everywhere. The car is tight as a drum - not a single buzz or rattle. It's an absolute joy to drive.

as goofy as the car looks, all it takes is 1 test drive to make everything come to sense

HAHA, I think i actually have you beat!!! Mine is by far not running well. or running period. it all started when my evo stopped boosting and could barely reach 55 mph. i mean i got beat off the line by a suby station wagon. Then my buddy was driving it to try to trouble shoot it and a semi truck blew a tire in front of him and basically cut my C-west bumber in half. And now, for the past 3 or so months, its been sitting in my garage on stands. It all started when i had numerous boost leaks. fixed a couple of those (one being a 3 inch hole in my intercooler), replaced that, then found out my ignition was screwy. so ordered a new set. the set got here a week late and was the wrong set. sent it back, got a new set, put it in. still ran like doo doo. so we decided that we need to tear apart the engine and change valves, valve springs etc... so we start the vigorous project of tearing the engine apart to find a rocker free floating in the head of the motor. So we changed out gaskets, and springs and all that jazz, put the car back together, started it up, and sounded even more poopy then before. Tried scanning with evo scan... ECU failing to respond. so... i just found out today, after dropping the motor yet again, and found out that timing was so far off (my fault... im stupid) so now, im at work... waiting for a time where i can time it, put it back together, and turn the car over. hopefully thats all my problems... but who knows with my luck...
so im glad your evo is running well, i hopefully will soon be able to say the same!

I feel ya man. I need a new trans, I grind 3rd and 4th and my clutch is almost done for. The other day, my exhaust hangar bolts let go somehow and my muffler was dragging along the ground for a bit before I got it fixed. I just got my intercooler fixed, the attachment lip for the pipe to couple to was completely bent and I had a huuuuge boost leak, I was losing almost all of my boost. As soon as that got fixed and I actually had a seal, the other pipe blew off due to a weak clamp, so I was stranded on the side of the road until a friend came with a jack and a few tools so I could get everything back in.
Its all of the little things that are going wrong, not anything overly terrible, just a PITA. The motor runs great at least.

Other than that, I love my Evo

Mine runs very well. 2nd/4th lockouts as usual with an Exedy OE clutch and a small chip on the window is about to become a crack but whatever. Engine's still strong after 111k miles and I beat her everyday.

Just took the time to do my 30k and the Evo is running good as new. Dropping some mods so hopefully I don't take it over the edge!

Sorry to hear about everyone's problems.

when i bought my car, it ran great, but i recently installed some mods and got tuned, so it ran even better (despite being street tuned in 100 degree weather)

well, we got some rain yesterday, so this morning it was in the mid 70's, and man...do turbo cars love cooler weather

modifying mine was the mistake i made.

ive had little problems ever since and its the little problems that annoy you most..

maybe its time to look at the evo as a "project" which might motivate you to fix the probs and enjoy the car?

im waiting for summer to come around...
