Dealer deposits - how much?

To those who have made deposits or will, how much is your deposit? One dealer here (in AZ) emailed me and said they were taking deposits of $5000! Yikes! The deposit is fully refundable if no deal is made. I have to talk to the guy still to find out if it can be had for MSRP, in writing.

By the way, is MSRP the BEST price one can get on any car? Has anyone ever bought lower than MSRP on a car?

I have two deposits at two dealers. $500.00 at a dealer where I am numbe 15th. $1000 at a dealer where I am the first on the list. On both deposit, the dealer manager sign MSRP for the price.

Why not take the $500 at the one dealer and add it to the $1000 at the other dealer where your #1 on the list

If Mitsubishi is smart, they will supply Evos to all dealers holding deposits first. Then allocate the rest of the 4000, or however many they produce. This way, they are guaranteed to sell, and not sit on the lot for longer than a week.
