Well i took it up into the mountains and the noise was completely awful...i immediately took the car back to the dealer (10 day grace period on all cars) and told them that if they would fix it i would keep the car but if they charge me anything ill give them the keys back. The car is at Mitsubishi now getting looked at. How much does a rear diff usually go for? I have been looking and cant find one...

You can try contacting Mitsubishi service centers in Japan, or check Japan auction sites. Unless the shop/person that sold you the car is willing to do replacement for you for free with OEM part, you may be better off getting aftermarket differentials, like the Cusco 1.5way

Something else i've been thinking is that it may have a cusco AYC replacement LSD in it and using the wrong oil could be causing it to be noisey, hard to check without taking the thing apart though.

hmmm could be. The car doesn't look modified at all...but then again I could be wrong. I cant really complain though, the car is 13 years old. I cant even find a LSD around here or anywhere for that matter...hopefully when the car comes back it isnt the diff...im praying for something rubbing the tires...
