Is this legit?

So I called the dealer today to make an appointment to do a general inspection, top off the fluids and change out the spark plus. He said it would cost $250 + tax to do this because it's some platinum something or other.. Is this legit?

Thanks

I suggest you post in your local sections and i'm sure there are guys willing to help you do this for free/ pack of beer or very little money. If you do some research you can do this yourself for next to nothing.

Spark plugs alone are about $60-70 from the dealer to give you an idea, everything else is double what it should be.

Cheers!

why not diy ?? Topping off fluids is as easy as opening a candy bar. Spark plugs just hand screw it in and then use the wrench to tighten it (not too much just a snug).

Those are for coppers... Which "should" be swapped with every oil change.

Most vendors here have iridiums from 30-40 shipped for the set.

Cheers!

Like said before. Buy some beer and invite some people. Everything is easily done in your own garage. I ordered spark plugs from optionsauto.com (Denso IKH24) for around 40$. Everything else is cheap and they won't be able to tell you anything more that you probably couldn't figure out yourself.

assuming op has an evo 9 because he didn't mention it

evo 9's can't use copper spark plugs

they are entirely different

please don't post if you have no clue what you are talking about

Just have to be careful when giving advice... The wrong plugs can and will result in a blown motor. Not your fault, but if chaotichoax didnt say anything the OP may have took your advice with an evo 8 and been in serious trouble.

Cheers!

Dealers are crazy now.. 250 for that? I went to my local dealer for an oil change and they told me 76 bucks! Turned around and started laughing.

Do it yourself please. Just research first or ask around. Someone will help.

From the looks of it, you have the future model Evo 11, so I would expect your plugs to be more expensive.
