Need New Ballast?

so i took my car to the dealer i bought the car from. have them check on my headlight because it flickers then turns off. so they said its a bad bulb, then they said i need a whole new headlight assembely. which is $600 and they don't want to cover it under the dealers warrenty.

so my question is can i just buy a new ballast? or just a whole new HID kit?

i can get a cheap ballast from here. http://www.vvme.com/hid-replacement-ballast-c-16.html

had 4 kits from them no problems.

Best way to diagnose the problem is switch the bulbs from one side to the other. If the problem follows the bulb, then you know the bulb is bad. Or, if the problem remains on the same side, you know it's the ballast.

Once you know the cause of the problem, you can just replace the defective part. There's no reason to purchase an entire new headlamp assembly.

I had this same problem a few months ago. My right headlight would flicker and then cut off. The problem was diagnosed and I needed a new control unit for the headlight. Would have been an expensive fix but i have an extended warranty.
