Help me convince my dad to let me get an evo!!!!
Put on your flamesuit. But don't be fooled, there are a lot of young Evo owners on this board.
But in my opinion, if your not in a position to make decisions with your own money (if you can indeed afford the car), you aren't ready.

personally, i think that comments such as youre too young to own a car like that are bull****..none of you know the maturity level of this kid and whether or not he is capable of owning an evo. afterall, the evo is not some kind of supercar, its just a four door sports sedan that is capable of a lot.
i hate when people discriminate against young Evo drivers. i got my Evo when i was 19. at the time i was working a full time job and a full time student at San Diego State University. i'm still working full time and going to San Diego State. it's possible, but just make sure you focus on school more than modding the car. education is way more important.
if you can pay for it then go for it.
I was advised by a guy to start building my credit as soon as I hit 18 and I sure did. owning an 86 integra at 16 then a 92 couple of months later. built a 300hp civic at 17. picked up an 05 RSX type S at 18. hated it and got my 04 EVO at 19 and loved it every since.
but my point is if you cant afford it dont bother. EVO's are at the top of the list for some of the most expensive car to insure.
on the bright side its AWD, turbo, fun car to drive, and anyone can enjoy it.
cons- terrible gas mileage for a 4 banger, unless you reflash and run a bit lean while cruising
but its up to you...as for me, I dont regret a damn thing. best car I've owned yet for the money
good luck on the choice you make.
PS you are an aldult yourself and if you can afford it, I see why not get one

as a 20 year old with an evo and in a 4 year university, i do not get enough time to enjoy the car as much as i would want to. If you start modding your car, it is a money black hole. I would say if youre planning to transfer schools in the future wait until you graduate. School is way more important.
i wouldnt let my kid get an evo
i remember all the dumb stuff i used to do, im surprised im still alive
your 19.... if you want the car daddy has no control over that. man up and go buy if you can afford it and your paying for it yourself

Who are you guys to say, " your too young to drive/own a evo?". All of you would jump on the oppertunity to get a car of this caliber at this age, and anyone that says "No" is full of ****. Don't hate because his parents a successful.
The dude asked how to convince his dad that the evo is a great car. Not for all you guys to preach to him, if he wanted that he'd go to church.
Im 20, and here shortly I'll be looking for a evo, hell, it will be my 3rd AWD turbo charged Mitsubishi. In fact I bet I can pilot one of my cars better then most of you, also I bet my other car has more power then some of you guys can handle.

OP, do you pay your own car payments? Do you pay your own insurance? Do you pay your own maintenence? Like someone else said, if you have to ask your dad, maybe you should wait until you have the resources to do it on your own. You will appreciate it more, and honestly I'm willing to bet that the cost of ownership for a G35 is FAR less than an Evolution.
I've talked to a lot of people in your position, and most of the time, I steer them away from getting an Evolution. I love mine, I'm literally obsessed with mine, but it's not for everyone.
i was 17 when i owned my evo and its my 4th car im 18 now. and yes i paid for it myself belive it or not. i get alot of **** about mommy and daddy's money but i dont even live with them. but anyways if your not paying for it you ought to not be picky but you stated you work with your dad so thats a diff issue.

theres cars on here that you would have to change your diaper after riding in.
dont come on here putting everyones sh*t down like you have the worlds fastest car and the best driver. we got professional drivers on here that have won championships. not just dream about it like you. get outta here clown.....
anyway, back on topic
I agree with this man!
I still can't believe how much our society has changed within the last 2 decades. I remember when teenagers wished for $4-5K cars. Now we have people talking about how they need to move on from a G35 at 19.
If your dad's reasoning for you to not get the car is because it's ugly and not because you should focus on doing well in school and saving your money, and get a real job, I can only hope you learn financial responsibility from some wise person you bump into.
