Like I said,

If you still rely on daddy to make decisions in your life, you should not get an Evo.

I did not say anything about age. Get it right people.

I am 17 and am schedualed to get an 06 EVO IX MR in spring '10. But I have to keep my grades up and pass my entrance exam to Lincon Tech and be admitted as an automotive student. As long as i do that ,we (parents and I) can sell my RA and with the money saved from my work the past year (20K), I will be able to afford my dream car. I am lucky my parents think the EVO would be a better platform for me to modify appon at Lincon Tech than an RA. But as i always say, if you have enough money, why are you asking questions? GL I hope you get and EVO!

and honestly I'm willing to bet that the cost of ownership for a G35 is FAR less than an Evolution.
First comment reminds me of this

Stock for stock, G35 cost more in ownership. Ask me how I know
Unless the Mitsubishi breaks often

Agree with the rest you've said, either I have high standards or what not but a parent buying their children a $2x,xxx dollar car isn't successful even if paid in full. Price of used Evos are cheap nowadays, hell even I'm able to get one

Everyone, I need you to help me convince my dad that I should be allowed to take a dump in the bathroom upstairs. I always go in the bathroom downstairs, but I think I'm mature enough to finally go in the big boy bathroom upstairs. Please help me convince him!!!

WTF??? for my first car I wanted a used toyota celica, but my Dad thought it would be a ****ty car and warned me not to get it. what did I do? Got the car anyways (yes I paid for it myself....that's what a job is for). The ultimate kicker was when his car broke down a year later and I gave him a ride home in my car. Nothing like eating your words.....just saying what's already been said, if you aren't ready to stand on your own and be responsible for the car and all the expenses that come with it (especially the stupid **** that will inevitably happen like happens to all of us in our first cars) then you shouldn't get it. If you do end up getting it, respect it. This car has the power to kill you a lot easier than if you got a civic. If you get it, welcome to the community, best car I've ever owned....even driven...

I bought my Evo 8 when i was 18. I had used my first car which my parents bought for a down payment on it and ended up with 404$ a month payments. You have to take into consideration that it isn't as easy as just paying the monthly bill and insurance but also the expensive upkeep for the car. It took me five years to pay it off and now I am finally doing the things I wanted to do to it since I bought it. If you want to make it into a track car be prepared to spend quite a bit of money and depending on how you drive it you may end up spending quite a bit of cash for parts that need to be replaced.

Evo X's are also near 40k brand new I think where I had paid 32K for my Evo 8 in 2003 so that makes it even harder. If your father is the one that is going to end up paying for it then I would not suggest it. If he is willing to put the down payment for you and you can pay the rest then it is reasonable but remember the hidden costs of owning an Evo.
