Help Me Pick the Evo X over the 2015 STi

Hey Guys,

Getting ready to make the purchase in the next couple of months.

Alright first off I have had a 06 Civic Si well since 2006 that I will keep so the bigger brother at the moment soon to be is the Evo. Aside form that my dads a Mechanic so I have been wrenching since I have been 10 years.

So I am posting here because I am pretty set on picking the Evo X over the Sti but need some assurance on why.

A few things still have me considering the 2015 Sti such as the Sti holding its value better over time and I assume that is due to reliability or maybe it is simply the brand recognition.
Also I thought the new Sti looked ugly but seeing it in person it looks better and much wider than in pictures ( has grown on me even though I think Sti is uglier than the Evo).

Alright guys convince me that the Evo is better!

Lastly can't wait to be part of this community looking forward to learning and contributing!

Masi

chiming into this forum and asking us to convince you? I suggest you buy an STi and do a few track days and see how it goes up against 10 yr old Evo VIIIs, you'll proabably start modding your motor and then see what happens when you push some psi into it....google ringland failure

but he's not considering an VIII or IX. the STi and X are very much comparable, IMO.

tough one. the 2015 STi is a really, really, really good car. it's probably the best-handling version they've ever had. between a X and that is a tough choice. i guess drive both then pick. i'd shy away from power mods on the STi, though.

either or, they are a huge upgrade from you honda. get an evo 8 and get a full rebuild and you will still spend less than buying a new car.

Thanks for the input so far guys! I went and saw them all at the dealers today. I think the Blue is really nice in person and the white looks cheap, it is not a pearl white like it is on the Sti. Might start a new post blue or white lol

But I def don't want a used one because I got my used Si and don't plan on commuting with the Evo.

As for driving the Sti they won't let me not that I am surprised but I guess I will have to find someone who owns one to let me drive it. I have had a chance to drive the Evo and loved it.

Will say the interior of the evo is not as nice as the Sti but do I really care? ( I think no lol)

if they want you to buy an STi without a test drive then there ya go. they made the choice for you LOL.
since it's kinda down to flipping a coin anyway haha.
personally, i'm not a fan of the inefficient sound of the Subaru exhaust (i have an engineer's mind and know the why and effects of the un-equal length headers/sound) so that's enough to make me not want another (i had an '05 WRX but couldn't stand the fact that i had every bolt-on imaginable + upgraded turbo and made less than 300whp).

but, either way you are going to happy with whichever car you end up with. i'd go with the one that is easier to purchase and maintain.

but a X, dropped on some really nice wheels, looks really REALLY good

your on an evo forum asking us to convince you...sounds like your already sold! The shaky past of that engine would be an instant turn off for me.

The 2015 has the old 08 EJ257 motor hence why the Evo is where I am leaning.

As for no more Evo is part of my logic because if I really hate the Evo (highly unlikely) I can sell it and go get a New Sti vs never having the chance to have a new Evo.

So then get the Evo. No sense in asking us to sway you and make you more comfortable about your own decision. Case closed.
