Evo Vs STi
Evo Vs STi
right now im on the market for either car
what are the pros and cons
why is your choice of the car a better deal then the other
I test drove both and i wasnt impress with the STi as i was with the EVo . i dont know if it was cause i was expecting much more with the STi .
I felt that the Evo handle a lot better and also had less turbo lag .
felt the Evo accelerated a lot quicker then the STi
what are some times on the 1/4 from each car ?
also how about handleling and breaking ? which car
its hard to decide since both cars are great , but the STi they want 34k and the Evo 30k which they seem (mitsubishi ) is willing to negotiate since they have 14 Evos on stock while Subaru 3

You are going to need some flame retardant for this one
Your perception of straight line speed was simply that, a perception. The evo might feel quicker because of the more noticeable boost, when in fact, the sti is quicker in the quater mile: evo 13.5-13.9 sti 13.2-13.6. This is still very close, evo = better handling slightly. sti = better acceleration slightly.

1st. search.
to summarize:
-the acceleration is compareable, but the STi pulls out on top slightly.
-the evo handles better.
-the evo brakes better.
-the sti has a better fit and finish.
-the evo's engine platform has been around longer, and thus people have a lot more experience with it
-the sti's engine is a new 2.5L with lots of potential (i think) waiting to be opened up by tuners
take your pick. both are great cars and i don't think you can lose either way. it's your preference.

You are one of the fortunate ones to be able to test drive both before buying one of them. This vs. has been beaten to death at least a million times on EVO forums and Subaru ones. Search and be ready to read for a while.
Your test drive should outweight opinions and personal preferences of other people. Facts are on spec charts of both cars.

i know that this car are made more then accelaration , but thats the way it felt to me . I didnt taking to the track to compare which was faster which also it involves a skill drive and also the conditions of the track . But i want something to compare since i have seen some mags state the opposite from your reply evo being faster on acceleration . im not new to cars and the hobby that they bring , but i do need some direction between this 2 car , and i will admit i have a lot to learn about them ...

im glad that i had the chance to test drive both cars , i remember a couple of months were Evo were selling and STi were only seen if you were on the waiting list . It seems that for both cars sells have drop and people can benefit from that by getting better deals . i hope that the dealers are willing to work for you and sell the car the lowest possible . Even the Sales manager from mitsubishi call and is willing to negotiate, while with the subaru dealer they seem not to care .
