What next?

I have a Turbo Timer, intake, and turbo-back exhaust. What would the most logical next step be. AFR controller? boost controller? bov? probably going to be one of the three just listed. Which order would be best for those three upgrades?

Boost Gauge.

Boost controller would be good also.

I would get some sort of tuning done to take advantage of the free flowing air.

What kind of tuning are you going to do? There's nothing to tune on his car yet.

I'd get the boost guage/controller and AFC next. Probably in that order.

I recommend a Boost Gauge, or Boost controller (with built in gauge).. Second would be the DV (BOV) though its not really as useful a mod, more of a precaution.. You can pull off any of these mods without supporting mods, but I think you'd enjoy the boost controller (and gauge) the most initially since you can increase boost without the AFC (Fuel controller modification) since the car already runs rich, you just won't get the optimum power out of it.

and an FYI.. There's still alot of power to be gained by using a flash or an S-AFC with no other mods.. However I have my concerns about leaning out the fuel, I basically only have an exhaust upgrade which increased boost slightly, with no other mods but an open air filter, the car either hits fuel cut, or is getting a bit of timing pulled due to detonation (under load at low rpm and part throttle)

Fireball, correct me if I'm wrong but, the EVO in stock form is running to rich. Just tuning that will pick up some HP. Just check out the piggbacks available and what they can offer. Nothing to tune

I mean he's got no tuning device onboard as of yet. Hence the need for the AFC or something.

First thing you should have done was a boost gauge. Be careful as a turbo back can raise your boost a few PSI.

I read a great article in Sport Compact Car about what to do if you have the 4G63 engine to make it better. It gave a bunch of things in the steps they should be done. 1) 180 thermostat, fluid flush and possible upgrade to hoses or radiator - if you're doing massive horsepower. 2) Air intake 3) Turbo back exhaust 4) Blow off valve 5) Boost controller 6) and beyond....engine upgrades, turbo upgrades, etc.

Sounded real good. I'd recommend the same. Do a thermostat if you haven't already done so. Air intake and boost controller sound like good ideas as well.
