Water leak... recall issue

Okay, so I get this re-call letter from Mitsu talkin about a possible water leak in the driver and passenger floorboard. I havn't had the chance to take my car into the shop 'til this morning, and this is what i find out...

my driver side floor board is leaking MAD water. underneath the carpeting, there's pretty much a full puddle of water that's been there since day one, i'd assume since it smelled like ****! my passenger side is fine, that i know of, but i'm hoping that there's no wiring damage, as this could cause a major problem. i'm left with a gay ford focus 4 door ( not even a manual ) as a loaner... kinda pissed me off, but eh...

anyhow, this is the only maintenance that is required, as far as i'm concerned...

1) sealing off the floorboard, and
2) replacing the entire carpet from front to back.

it's a factory re-call, so it's covered under warranty. this should be completed over the weekend, or so they told me. atleast my buddy's the mechanic working on it.

anyone else on this forum experience the same thing???

How long have you owned your Evo? When did you find out about this recall?

Most of us found out a few months ago - I am surprised that you would have been sold one without recall work already done, or that it would have taken so long for them to notify you about it.

I got mine fixed already a month or two ago. I got the letter during the summer but at that time they said only some were affected. Maybe they found out another batch was effected more recently... i dunno

I didn't get the recall letter from Mitsu until a month ago. But I took the car in right after I read the racall thread a few months back. I guess Mitsu is really slow on customer service.
The fixup was fast, they just needed to reseal the floor.

You only get a recall if Mitsu think it's been modified...they get you to come in and then they get to peek at your ECU harness!!!

Yes I am joking....

i know you're joking, but i done told mitsu i already spliced the **** outta the ecu, and my buddy, my mechanic, said that it doesn't matter what i've done, if there's a recall issue, they'll completely replace everything, every if you've torn it to shreds already... i hope he's right.
