When I read these weight reduction threads I wonder how much weight could have been saved if the Evo was a two door. Imagine a IX chopped and made smaller. Almost makes me want to shop for a salvaged car..... and try some big weight reduction. Probably just as much work as taking a Evo drive train and putting it in a 2300lb hatchback.

What about the crash beams in the doors? Going from 03 to 04 Mitsu changed from steel beams to aluminum. You can really feel the difference just opening and closing the doors 03 vs 04 and up.

My 03 doors feel way heavier than my friends 04.

I have the Fiber Images Carbon hood and it is significantly lighter than the OEM hood. It also fits very nicely. I would stay away from anything with Seibon on it.

for those willing to spend a weekend getting dirty... take the carpet out and remove all the sound deadening material.... not for everyone..but like you said.... this thread is for those looking to shed every free pound!

also... a few things on that list... for those who wanna start off a step ahead and have yet to actually buy an evo.... buy an RS... no ABS, manual windows, no sound deadening material, no rear wiper, aluminum roof, less wiring.... again.. just helpful tips

If you own a dsm/evo and don't have a set of jackstands these cars aren't for you.
