My Evo got slower...help.
After switching new tires , my evo got slower noticeably , I do not know why. Before it was slow because of a burnt clutch but that was fixed around half a year ago. Is there common problem for the VIII why it is slow and any suggestions how I can check? Any suggestions would be good. I prefer not to drop it off @ the shop because they charge alot especially Mitsubushi. Thanks
That's what they do. They get slower. What we do is spend more money on them, then they feel fast for a short amount of time. When they get slow again, we spend more money on it.
Just kidding. Do a boost leak/leak down test, gotta be a reason it's not running up to par. Don't take it to Mistu. If anything, take it to a local tuner.

Without knowing the conditions it's kind of hard to properly answer the question. Maybe your old tires were balding so they were loud and rough riding and now that you have new tires the smoothness makes it feel slower. I'm just taking a wild guess because switching out tires should not show a dramatic change like that unless you got the biggest heaviest tires on the market. And even then I don't know if you would immediately say "wow this is slower!"
If you messed with anything I would seek that out. But while possible, it may not be probable that something happened that was not already affecting the car; like developing a severe boost leak when changing the tires and not touching anything else.

It's possible the new tires you put in weigh more and the additional rotating mass is enough to allow you to feel the additional drivetrain loss. Did you go with a wider tire or larger wheel/tire combo? Also, which vancouver are you from?
Its hard to say why without knowing more info about your car? How many miles on it? How often do you do maintenance? Old spark plugs, worn belts slipping, old fluid in the car, etc... Any one of those can have a small enough change to be noticeable. Boost leak, or oil in the intake/MAF can affect it to.
Maybe it was just a coincidence the car started to slow down upon putting new tires? To me that just doesnt make sense. There are so many components and areas to check. You might want to mention your last upgrade, or something you were messing with.

Like everyone is saying, there are tons of factors that can affect your speed and performance. These cars dont have a switch that goes from fast to slow. This thread you started wont help you get anything accomplished. If youre not mechanically inclined then search this forum for the closest reputable shop to you and take it in for some help.

Shouldn't be too bad, I can't see there being a noticeable difference between the two sets of tires.. You didnt mess with anything else other than the tires during your upgrade? Didn't mess with the brakes or brake lines? Any noises when driving that are new since the shop time? +1 on the boost leak test. Post back with any new findings.
Before the tires were switched I added CVRMS Brake Package - Stage III with HPS hawk brake pads but switching back to ceramic soon because its too squeaky. Would that affect my car? But it didn't show any kind of sluggish until after the front tires switched.
That is the stock tire size, even if you were riding wider tires it shouldn't slow you down, if you go to a bigger rim size then it'll possibly hinder acceleration... do a boost leak test first, I was tuning an evo 7 and one day it suddenly got slower, did a leak test and found a riped hose by the wastegate actuator, post your findings, good luck.
