So I have found harness bars on ebay for my evo. They range from $130-$240. Do you think there any good. I don't use by car for racing. Just the occasional drag race on friday nights and mainly a daily driver. I have purchased harnesses because I an more secure with them. I just can't justify paying over $300 for a sparco or ams harness bar. If you know of any other bars that are cheaper than the sparco and ams bars, please let me know.

 

Do you really feel safe running a harness that is securing you with a harness bar from ebay?


I doubt it or you would not be asking.


Skimp on some things, not safety.

 

i cant see how a metal bar could me made more cheaply than another one, its not a rim or something that will crack, i cant imagine how different AMS would make a metal bar than any other company in the world, BUT you never know, S**T happens, so just for the sake of safety and its ur life at stake here, the extra 150 dollars wont hurt and you wont have to find out the real difference god forbid you get into a accident.

 

Ok i currently have the ebay harness and my friend has the ams. There is not one difference expect for the ams badge being on it. Save your self money i love mine and i have had it for a year now with not one problem. Some things id say dont cheap out on but itd be stupid to pay extra for the same thing.

 

I'm not really sure why you would want a harness bar for drag racing but whatever floats your boat...I installed my ebay harness bar for Autox/Road course event...As of right now its in there to stiffen up the chassis (which is did an awesome job) and when I get the $$ together I will be throwing some harnesses in there also...My ebay harness bar works great. It is 3 solid welded piece, no adjustable parts at all, it is specifically made for an evo...Mine came in primer and I had it powder coated gloss black and it looks great...I tired searching ebay to find a link to 1 but couldn't...I don't see the specific one I purchased on there very often...1 or 2 of them once a month or so...it was $125 shipped i think...

 

which ebay company did you buy it from? It you even know. Cause there are like two or three people on ebay that have them for sale.

 

I would definitely go with the better quality one from AMS or Sparco. They might all look the same but that does not mean they are. The more expensive ones are most likely made of a better metal and I can almost bet they have stronger welds than an Ebay knock off. Don't skimp on something that could be saving your life one day.

 

i don't remember the sellers name on there right now...They are hand made and its a total of 3 pieces with no adjustable parts...its made to fit the evo only and the welds were great on it...if I find out the seller name ill let you know...

 

How do you know the AMS or Sparco harness bars are better quality? Yes, there are definitely some ebay harness bars that I would def. not purchase and install in my car but the 1 I purchased and installed is a great piece. The harness bar has a little bit of weight to it so its made out of strong metal and the welds are great. And to be honest I really don't see how a harness bar is going to save your life...its a harness bar not a roll bar/cage...

Japan has very very limited natural resources for ore. They have to import most of it, good chance the Sparco component is from china/ukrane or something like the welds may be better from sparco but the overall quality of the material is most likely very similar if not the same. Ebay haters on this site are label ******

 

I'm with bobster on this one because realistically it's like when you see a china made clone of everything...Sure it can LOOK the same, but at what tensions does it break. Buying something that remotely involves you know..that small thing called your life..should be deciding factor...but that's my .02c

I realize that it is not a roll cage for the car, I was just pointing out this is what your seat belt is going to be bolted to possibly and subject to the forces in an accident I wouldn't trust something cheap IMO
