Annoying Day

So i nearly make it to work today and the car just dies. I'm thinking of its probably something simple like a fuse or whatever. Nope the fuses are good and the car pulls a p0335 code which means my crank position sensor is toast.

Culprit:
Loose crank bolt allowed the sensor plate to wobble just enough to destroy the sensor, my fault obviously. Next step is obviously replacement and a hefty dose of locktite to fix the loosing bolt issue.

Lesson for all is to tighten up that crank bolt when doing cams.

Sucks man. Only thing you can do is learn from your mistake and hope everyone else does too

How do you mistake lubed 123 ft*lb? It's probably more like 150 ft*lb on the bolt.

Loctite should not be necessary, just proper torque.

Yeah i went at it with a big breaker bar to tighten it last time. I think there just isn't enough available friction to get that with a hand tool. I'm going after it with an impact wrench this time to make sure its good and tight.

I had one of those happened to me. Did you have a P0300 before it happened?

If you torque it properly you'll be alright. You don't want to risk breaking anything with an impact. With locktite it will be a PITA to get that bolt off again they're already a pain without locktite. I torqued mine (no locktite) and haven't had any issues I put cams in over a year ago.

It was done yesterday

Medium blue locktite and a good old fashioned impact. I realized i put the crank bolt on wrong, I thought the washer sat on top of the main pulley but it really sits inside of the pulley wedged in between it. I had it sitting on the washers of the pulley which was the main mistake here.

Kinda feel silly now
