DO NOT GET A 1000CC as your first bike. 600's are almost as fast as litre bikes from a standstill....litre bikes leave little if any room for error. I rode 600's for 4 years. I'm just now looking at stepping up to a litre bike and the prospect still scares me. Litre bikes are useless for the street anyways. I just love the new CBR1000 RR's.
+1 Do NOT get a 1000cc as your first bike , only if you have been riding for awhile then ur fine. I bought my 1000 as my first bike , but prior to that I was riding R1s , CBR600s, Gixxers , etc. from friends who owned them so I had adequate experience

I would have to agree with the other members, a 1000 wouldn't be a great idea. 600s are plenty of fun and plenty fast. You will learn to appreciate the light weight and flickability of a 600 over a 1000.

That liter bike will stand up on you every time you try to go at 75% throttle from first and sometimes second. Around a curve if you give it too much gas the rear will slip out from under you and that's not even counting a slick or dirty surface or if your tires are cold then it's 1000x worse. That bike will accelerate MUCH MUCH faster than it can possibly brake.

Bikes, especially liter bikes, are evil. They play it cool while you're getting to learn it and when you get a tiny bit of confidence it will straight up hurt you. That's just the way the power band is on sportbikes. It's like saying an Evo is slow without getting into boost.
It's so easy to get in over your head on a liter bike and not even mean to. I've been riding for 6 years and put 1000's of street miles and a few track days on my resume. DO NOT BUY A LITER BIKE!

yes since you never rode before get a 600 or close to that. A 1000 will only do you harm, you will think I can handle, my ***** are big, I am a man, until you fail to see that object in the road or you hit the throttle and make yourself dead. I learned on a 750 cruiser, now im on a 1200. Totally worth it.

And sucks you sold the evo btw

Man some of you are harsh. LOL. I had a lot of people tell me a 600 was too much or a 600 is a waste of time.

Dood I'd almost say if you have NEVER ridden a bike you might want to consider a used 500...that way when you late it down you won't feel so bad. I bought a 600 as my first bike and I had never ridden a motorcycle before. It took me a hell of a lot longer to get comfortable on it then if I had bought a 250 or 500 first.

Good luck and I hope you make the right decision.
