buying a used evo

Hello all. ive been lurking on here for a while now and have been back and forth on purchasing a used evo. Would you do it? what are some common things to look for when checking out the car? should i take it to a mechanic to have it checked out? what should i ask the mechanic to check out? are there common problems to look for? should i even bother buying used? any input is greatly appreciated thanks!

Unless the mechanic is familiar with an Evo's quirks, then this site is the best place for all your Evo needs and concerns. I am on here everyday, and I always learn new things.

Compression, shaft play, oil condition, service records, driveline fluids, smoke at wot, sounds, clutch.

Think twice about buying into the Evo Program, it will reward you and burn you. It is a heck of a ride though.

what he said is correct you may get a good evo with some abuse you may get a evo that needs some work may look good on outside but have some major issues just make sure your ready to spend 1700 on a clutch job or 1000 for another turbo if needed etc. long as you got it covered them come on and join the party good luck on your choice
