I have no doubt he drove the **** out of his car or even abused it...frankly I don't give a crap about what happens to him or his car.

What I care about is having some Mitsu dealer try to deny my warranty because of an aftermarket air filter or something.

Sorry, this is not true.

Please research before making comments like this. It is up to the service department to prove that a modification caused failure in a covered part. The turbos on my RX-7 were replaced by Mazda even though I had aftermarket exhaust and downpipe without me having to threaten legal action.
I guess you misquoted me when I said "mod it" It was meant to be MOD it not just a filter, but real MOD,

Uhm, from what I understand, the only thing this kid had on his car was an air intake.

Air intake + cigarette burns on loaner + worn clutch + bald tires = bye bye warranty? Do you understand the problem in this equation? Maybe the kid is being a jackass, but being a jackass doesn't void a warranty. Low oil...now that definitely does. I just want to make sure it was the low oil and not these other (irrelevant) factors.

ok well just cause someone said they blew their motor and they were going to go to the dealership after they uninstall their parts doesnt mean it was him did they id the person who made the post? just cause the name is the same as on this board? people do take other peoples names sometimes and people also post with similar names or whatever, and just cause it said he blew his motor and he would return it for warrenty doesnt mean it was him it could be someone else with a blown engine that hasent tried to return it yet or just decided to forget it and but a engine.

If it's easy and takes 10mins why not change your own oil? Most people dont' get wealthy being lazy and giving thier money away. Unless their time is worth more than the $ saved, have someone else do it

What receipts? For purchasing oil at wal-mart? Can't my brother's wife's father's sister give me some oil as, say, a birthday gift? For all they know we could all use a "pool" of oil receipts, so we always have one.

When I had a rod start knocking in my 3G eclipse, they didn't start asking for oil change receipts... they just fixed the darn thing. That's the way it should be!

From the way i understand it its not thaat he was a qt low or even that he didnt take it to have the oil changed.

when he took it to the first shop it was near empty on oil etc..

when he brought it to mitsu the damage was already done and had nothing to do with making an oil change interval.....
