Warranty Question

Hi all,

In the past, I've gotten some warranty work done, but I honestly can't remember the procedure that I went through. Now, the lights in my speedometer cluster burned out, and I called the closest dealer (1 hour away) and they said this is most likely going to be covered under warranty. However, they said that they will still have to send out a report to Mitsubishi Corporate. Is this done all in the same day? Or, will I have to drive there to get my car checked and they send the report and then come back if everything checks out? Also, do they only send out a report if there are mods (only mod I have is an exhaust which is unrelated to the cluster)?

Thanks!

I think/hope so. I think the warranty for my 05 evo was like 5 years/60k miles, and I have 54k miles. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.

They cannot void your warranty from aftermarket parts. The aftermarket parts had to cause the problem. Which, in your case, they did not. If they void your warranty based on your parts, you can take legal action.

Call the dealer.

Yea thats the jist of it. Initially I was thinking 10yr/ 100K but that was on the powertrain. I had to take my car in for a warranty issue. Took it in a few times, before they decided to warranty it. They weren't refusing or anything like that, just trying to figure the problem. Long story short, I took it in on a Friday and the Warranty Rep, or District Rep, wasn't going to be there for another 10 days. Ergo, I had to go back yet again, and then it was 3 days for parts. I don't know if he/ she is scheduled to visit every dealer on a fixed schedule, or just when they have an issue. Best thing to do would be to ask them if they know the next time he/ she will be comming in to save you a trip. Afterall, thats the purpose of this thread if I'm reading it correctly?

I did, and he gave me the run around. He kept saying "Sorry, I have to see it in person before I can tell you anything."

BlackMRSE - Thanks, you pretty much answered what I was asking. I was basically wondering if it was a one day thing or a long process.

Yea, sorry, I have 2 dealers that are closer than an hour to me. 1 is like 15-20 mins so I guess I never really thought about stuff like this.

I wouldn't really hold my breathe on the 1 day turn around thing... lol just my experience with the matter. They're prompt, but they don't exactly bend over backwards. Not saying I wasn't satisfied; just trying to give you an idea.

Usually, they have you come in, they look at it (look for damage caused by you by any means) then they get out the little digital camera, snap photos of mileage, vin number, and the problem of course. They email the photos to the REP, who then gives them the OK to purchase the parts to fix it. Usually these kind of parts are a no brainer as long as you meet the warranty requirements (mileage/year) but things get more difficult when its transmissions/Tcase/motor/turbo or suspension related. Then they like to look over the car, and the regional REP will most likely appear at the dealer to see the car when the work is being done. If there are mods (related to the part in question that failed), he will bill you.

Hopefully that helps.

That's good info, mine related to a motor issue, guess that's why he needed to see it in person.
