Gas Can / Storage Thread

Searched quite a bit & could not find any threads regarding gas cans / storage

I searched the Web to find a highly regarded can / "JustRite model no. 10821.....They are spendy, but hoping it will serve my storage needs. The can is CARB / OHSA approved.

Just curious as to what you guys are using & would like to see other storage ideas.

Peace

The plastic cans are a cheap and effective alternative, however their downsides are great. If they are ever in a fire, well, it is pretty obvious what can happen there and the same goes for transporting. If you are in a serious accident, the plastic containers can make the situation worse. That being said, bad things can happen with steel cans as well, but the risk is much lower. I personally use the UN 456 steel cans that are osha approved and look much like the VP cans except they have an easier to use screw top. I also use custom funnel/spout that can either be used as a funnel or connected to the containers and used as a spout. Here are some pics of the funnel/spout and containers that I use:

As a side note I do sell these containers and funnels so if you're interested let me know.

it works well, can't complain. The way it is designed, you can use any size funnel that you like so it is pretty universal, not to mention it attaches straight to the containers for a convenient spout.

FWIW This is what I use.

Best gas can I ever owned and I've owned my fare share. Really easy to fill the car with fuel with the "deluxe hose". If you are looking for transport legality, then this probably isn't the way to go. I have yet to run into the fuel transport police.

This will not degrade using ethanol. I have used mine for years with no ill effects.

Appreciate the responses........I think I went a bit over board w/ the cans I bought.......I was a bit paranoid about the corrosive nature of E85.....I would still like to know if the VP plastic cans are E85 compliant......Peace

I got them from U-Line (Local pickup)......They are spendy & I have not used them yet....If you read the reviews, they are highly regarded.....I think there are lower cost choices that would work just fine, But until I start using them I really dont have the greatest opinion.

Check w/ BenJ who is our resident fuel expert for a solid opinion.......Peace

a steel type container is typically a safer choice in terms of storing fuel so while your steel cans are spendy, they offer a safer alternative then plastic containers. That being said, I love the VP plastic containers.
