not a bad suggestion, i just did the treatment on my 91 TT stealth and it ruined a set of new plugs...sputters at high boost now, didn't immediately before the treatment for what it's worth.

I finally broke down and got some new spark plugs. I'm still having the same issue. I got some NGK iridium plugs that you don't gap. Any other ideas? I will probably take it to the stealership on Monday.

no such thing as "plugs you don't gap" once you start modding. since you mentioned you have a tune, your obviously not running stock boost & are probably way outside the spec that plug manufacturer had in mind when they set the gap at the factory.

do yourself a favor, buy a plug gapper. (there typically 99c for the cheapie, though id reccomend the feeler guages) it only takes about 30 mins to pull the plugs & check the gap. as most everyone has said, its pretty apparent that's the prob & if not, seeing as you dont know what your gap is set at, the first place to start is pulling the plugs & reading the gap so we can take that off the list

have you tried disconnecting battery for 10 - 20 minutes for ecu reset?

please dont change the turbo, thats like trying to solve an acne problem by getting a facelift. for now its overkill and may not fix it anyways lol

as said iridiums CAN be gapped. just treat it very delicately. instead of forcing the gap by using the gapper, use needle nose plier to slowly change the gap.

I would put money on plug wires. If you pull on anything but the rubber boot the wire can be ruined. It is near impossible to see the flaw in wire it will just miss under high boost and with more load. Like if you were to get on it on a hill it would miss more.

Boost leak test....

It costs ~10 dollars to make one .... Noone with a turbo car should be without one.

I have been down this road......

this just shows the mechanics at the dealership don't know what they're doing. at least you're getting a new motor.

wow.. to bad you can't just tell them to give you the money for a new block and internals and take it to a good shop, and with the $ it would cost mitsu. for a brand new stock motor you could be running around on a built motor.

Hey, my car is back to to stuttering again. Would a boost leak be causing the stuttering at WOT? My car is completely stock besides a AMS LICP and MR BOV
